A story that revolves around the anti-Japanese occupation and follows Bai Niansheng, a man from the pugilistic world who fight to save his countrymen.

The Japanese army began their invasion of China in 1937. Niansheng (Yang Yang) who was raised by an abbot is forced to come down from the mountains to take revenge for his master after he was murdered in the hands of the Wu Hu Clan. Along the way, he saves Han Meiyu (Zhang Jiani) from harm and an extraordinary relationship develops between the two. Tang Si Ye (Lian Yiming), the leader of the Loyalty Hall, and Li Shaofei (Niu Baojun), a member of the Communist party, chance upon mass killings launched by the Japanese to recover the formula for a biological weapon.

The story is set in the era of the decline of the Shang dynasty (1600–1046 BC) and the rise of the Zhou dynasty (1046–256 BC). It intertwines numerous elements of Chinese mythology, including deities, immortals and spirits. The authorship is attributed to Xu Zhonglin. The novel is a romanticised retelling of the overthrow of King Zhou, the last ruler of the Shang dynasty, by Ji Fa, who would establish the Zhou dynasty in place of Shang. The story integrates oral and written tales of many Chinese mythological figures who are involved in the struggle as well. These figures include human heroes, immortals and various spirits (usually represented in Avatars form like vixens, and pheasants, and sometimes inanimate objects such as a pipa).

Aroonchai gets raped by her own father and the drama follows how this affects both her future relationships with men and her mother.

A story that follows Tian Chuang Hua, the Ma family's daughter-in-law who undergoes many hardships in her life, yet gathers up the strength to help her own village.
