“Unexpected Heroes” is a fantasy web drama that tells the story of three high school students who receive super powers after their respective organ transplants and then use their powers to solve suspicious cases. It is being supported by the Center for Disease Control Organ Transplant Management Center to raise awareness for organ and human tissue donations.

Sato, a young woman from a modest family, marries Kenta, a young man from a well-to-do and respected family. She settles in the family's home, where she meets the father, Keiichi, a strict man, Mihoko, the unfriendly sister-in-law and Akito, the elder brother. Although not everyone sees the union of Kenta and Sato in a very good light, the father seems to have great plans for our heroine.

Set in the republican era, it revolves around the Jiu Long Uniform Embroidered Guards who unravel shocking cases, and discover the secret within the Nine Palace Treasure which is the catalyst to a huge conspiracy.

Ban Ji Yeon is a single 39 year-old woman. She works as a reporter and is very enthusiastic about her work. So much so that she is often called a “witch” at work. She doesn't believe in true love, because of her past experience when her boyfriend disappeared prior to their wedding.

Yoon Dong Ha is 25 year-old young man who runs a small errand center with his friend. He looks like a happy guy, but he lost his girlfriend in an accident. Sparks fly when Ji Yeon and Dong Ha meet, and despite the age difference, they find a lot in common with each other, including their scarred hearts.

Ray is an intern with a special ability to see the true identity of his boss, Rin, who everybody considers evil. However, he'll do everything to win her heart.

Two friends meet up and recall their experiences as victims of school bullying when they receive a message from a friend from 20 years ago and mysterious serial killings begin to occur.

Kyung Min lives with the trauma of the school violence he experienced twenty years ago and an unexpected case causes his suppressed emotions to reappear. Meanwhile, Detective Jong Suk receives a mysterious message sent from a friend from 20 years ago which reminds him of the school violence that took place back then. Chasing the mysterious message, he tries to put a stop to the murders.

Through these characters with tragic fates, the drama touches on the origin of school violence and the bullying that pervades modern society.

Adapted from the animated film "The King of Pigs" (돼지의 왕) by Yeon Sang Ho (연상호), based on a true story.
