How many of us remember what our dreams were when we were children? What our hopes and aspirations were?

How many of us grew up and realised that all the wonderous, innocent dreams that we had were probably not going to come true.

That it was harder to become a superstar or a world-famous soccer player.

How many of us spent all of our lives unable to express ourselves and love who we wanted, openly.

This drama is about five such high school friends who also had dreams and goals but were unable to complete them.

This is a story of second chances,of being able to love whoever you want,of dreams coming true, and of happiness.

A poor samurai in the Edo era finds himself receiving the latest electrical appliances from the modern world one day.

Veteran police officer, Bai Qingxiong (Chen Hanwei), forms an agency called Cold Case Investigators (CCI) which aims to crack unsolved cases. Through this agency, he hopes to give a proper closure to family members of the victims. He is a righteous man who is confident that all criminal will not escape the law. The CCI uses unorthodox methods to search for clues which eventually led them to the truth. There are many clashes among the team during the investigation process but sparks also flew among young members, Huang Yuyang (Rebecca Lim), Hong Junyan (Desmond Tan) and Lan Haifeng (Yusuke Fukuchi). The trio soon find themselves entangled in a love triangle. Each time the team manage to solve a case, they are also reminded of their own mystery past. It seems that Qingxiong, Yuyang, and Junyan each have a secret from the past which they are unable to let go of. Eventually, they all decide to work together to investigate their own mystery cases. Can they solve the cases and finally let go of the past?

Yami o Terasu Mono takes place at some undetermined point in the future in Vol City, a metropolis build around a volcano. One day, Ryuuga Dougai arrives in the city, drawn in by its high concentration of evil spirits known as Horrors, the ones plaguing Vol City being Madou Horrors. Ryuuga is, in fact, a Makai Knight and the latest knight to bear the title of Garo the Golden Knight. However, Garo's armor has mysteriously been tarnished black. Leaving many questions behind the loss of his golden armor's radiance, and the fate of his predecessor, Kouga Saezima. Ryuuga is the latest Garo The Golden Knight. He does not have any jurisdiction over any part of Japan, unlike his predecessor, and his habit of dressing in black clothes exudes a wild and imposing personality, while he is actually kind and positive. He possesses the innate ability to determine people's feelings by touching their belongings. Takeru Jakuzure is a fellow Makai Knight, serving as Zen the Flame Sword Knight, a self-styled playboy who would rather find a lady friend than battle Horrors. Aguri Kusugami is another Makai Knight, serving as Gai the Sky Bow Knight, the latest in a line of Makai Knights of the Kusugami clan, although he worries he cannot live up to the prestige his name carries. Rian is a beautiful and flashy Makai Priestess armed with the Makai Gun who always uses her skills for good, however, she has a hard time believing what others tell her due to her upbringing. Mado Ring Zaruba is the mentor and Madougu of the original Garo of the Saezima clan. He does not usually participate in fights but does give advice. However, Zaruba rarely speaks while he is with Ryuuga. Burai is a Makai Priest based in Vol City who is Aguri's partner and Rian's mentor. He uses a Makai Beast named Ragou in combat. He seems to have some history with Ryuuga. ~ Enhou is the female commander of the special forces task force SG1. She is not sure of the significance of the appearances of Horrors in Vol City, but she suspects Ryuuga to be behind it somehow.

Song Soo Jung is a top star and she is very arrogant. She classifies people by how much money they have. Suddenly, she goes back in time to the Goguryeo era and meets On Dal. He will do anything to make money, but in fact he is generous to the weak and poor.

Set towards the end of the Joseon era, Sung Yi-Gyeom placed first in the state examination and he now works at the Hongmungwan (administrative and research department). He doesn't have a goal or ambition for his life. One day, Sung Yi-Gyeom is caught gambling. As punishment, he is assigned to work as a secret royal inspector. His job is to eradicate illegal acts and corruption by public officers. He carries out his new job with the help of Hong Da-In and Park Chun-Sam. Hong Da-In is a female inspector and solves cases with Sung Yi-Gyeom. Park Chun-Sam is Sung Yi-Gyeom’s servant. Park Chun-Sam is talkative, affectionate, and tearful.

Meanwhile, Sung Yi-Beom is Sung Yi-Gyeom’s younger stepbrother. His father is a nobleman, but his mother is a slave. Due to his mother's low social status, his father does not accept him as his real son and he is barred from having certain opportunities. He opposes his older stepbrother Sung Yi-Gyeom.

Hikuma Koichi, a former saxophone player who has turned his back on music due to the aftereffects of an accident, becomes the advisor of a small brass band at a run-down high school. He has to deal with problem students who have lost their dreams as well as the teachers’ opposition to a professional musician entering the classroom. The path is not easy for him. Even so, Hikuma rediscovers his dream, confronts the students head-on and starts to coach the band. Despite their bewilderment, the students begin to reciprocate his passion for music.

A television adaption of Zhang Yimou's 2011 film The Flowers of War. Apart from changes in character relationships and the storyline, there will also be additional plots outlining the events before and after the Nanking Massacre.
