Jin Tian, a young woman who recently got dumped by her fiance and lost her grandmother, Chen Lanxin. Feeling heartbroken, she travels to Prague, the place where her grandmother once spent years of her life. In her grandmother's belongings she finds a letter from 1970. In Prague, Jin Tian meets Peng Zeyang, a young single father who lives with his daughter and mother. The two develop a mutual attraction during their journey on searching Josef Novak, her grandmother's past lover.

Ah B (Vic Zhou) is a well-known racing champion who lost his fame and fortune due to an accident. To make things worse, his wife leaves him and he turns to smoking, drinking and gambling to get through life. One day, Ah B's wife (Yang Mi) who has disappeared for six years reappears with a boy named Bin Bin (Xiao Xiao Bin), claiming that Bin Bin is his son and that she has to leave him under his care for time being. Despite their initial wariness, the two gradually develop a close father-and-son relationship and a glimmer of hope is reignited in Ah B's life of self-pity.

Directed by Hagishima Tatsuya, Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai (a.k.a. Calling You) is based on the same-titled light novel series by popular writer Otsuichi. Like Otsuichi's Waiting in the Dark, which was also recently adapted for the big screen, Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai revolves around two lonely young people who find each other in an uncommon manner. Shy, quiet, and unsure of herself, Aihara Ryo doesn't quite fit in anywhere. Though she wants to make friends, she has trouble speaking up and holding a normal conversation like everyone else. The source of the hair is the corpse of a girl whose dead body continues to grow beautiful, voluminous, black hair that comes alive, driving those who use the extensions insane or killing them.
