In the early days of the Republic, legendary martial artist Ye Ruzhou suffers a severe injury, losing her memory and winding up in the impoverished alley of Minfu Lane. By a twist of fate, she crosses paths with the carefree Chen Awang, and the two fall for each other. When local tyrant Zheng Juehou intensifies his hold over the neighborhood, Ye Ruzhou rises to defend her new community. 29-year-old Hyuga Toru is a wealthy man. He first started to run an internet website from his small room and his hobby began to make a lot of money. Nowadays, he doesn't like to socialize and if somebody comes to him he suspects that they may want his money.

Sawaki Chihiro attends a job fair and by an unexpected occurrence begins to work for Toru. Chihiro soon realizes that Toru isn't so bad. There's pureness in him and also a good deal of loneliness. She then begins to have feelings for him.

Byun Jae Wook is a short-tempered prosecutor with a propensity for violence, famous for his tough investigations and who only pursues the truth. When a suspect under his interrogation is found dead, Jae Wook is arrested, falsely accused of murder and imprisoned for 15 years .

While in jail, he plans out his revenge mission and finds the most talented criminals in the ward to help him out. Five years later, Jae Wook meets good-looking, brilliant con artist and schemer Chi Won in prison.

Feeling he could carry out his plan outside of prison, Jae Wook gets Chi Won acquitted, using his knowledge as a former prosecutor. Jae Wook’s ragtag team of ex-cons will now enact a revenge plan against the organization that framed him.

What would it be like... if you had to organise your ex's wedding? Risa, the owner of a wedding planning business and her gang of close friends—Jan and Offy—are tasked with orchestrating an extravagant wedding for Arun and Monica, an Indian couple who've brought to Thailand with them an enormous entourage of relatives. With Tim as the event's photographer, this wedding is set for turmoil as exes reunite.

Another film (possibly the first) from Douglas Kung's My Way Film Production, that odd company who make HK films the way they used to be made 10-15 years ago, but which never actually get released in Hong Kong. The King Boxer shares a name with two early 70's martial arts films, but shares a lot more with some later vintage films of the genre. Most obvious is Fong Sai Yuk, from which large chunks of plot are lifted, but the not-particularly-observant will recognise elements from Fist Of Legend and Tai Chi Master and Sammo's Prodigal Son. Well, original story lines aren't exactly a strong feature of the kung fu genre I guess tongue.gif Chin Kar Lok stars as the headstrong young (!) son of a business man who is far more interested in learning Kung Fu than business wiles, and joins the Yiyin kung fu school despite the fact their master was just defeated by their rivals and it is going to close. The main reason he joins them is because he fancies one of the master's daughters (May Kwong), and due to a misunderstanding (that he can actually fight) the family place their hopes on him to rescue their school. The style is very reminiscent of early 90's kung fu comedy on a fairly low budget. If it had come out in 1993 it would have been lucky to rate a 5/10, but this sort of film has been tragically missing from screens for a long time, and even a mediocre entry is worth some attention. I could have done without a lot of the comedy, which only occasionally manages to be amusing. I could have done without the various romantic angles too, as they're entirely lacking in substance or emotion. What I couldn't have done without is the fight scenes, which are quite refreshing. Not classic work, but offers at least glimpses the kind of choreography and genuine physical talent that made HK cinema a world-wide phenomenon. We even get another fine villainous performance from Billy Chow, for the true early 90's vibe. If you've still got any early 90's kf films to get through, probably go with those first, but if you've already seen all that's available and have been itching for something new, by all means do pick up THE KING BOXER. It ain't great, but it doesn't have a lot of competition these days and it could have been worse smile1.gif

Viji, a passionate woman, lives a peaceful life with her husband and son but dreams of becoming an independent woman. Her life takes a turn when she gets an opportunity to become a radio jockey.

Kiriyama Rei is a 17-years-old shogi (Japanese chess) player. He debuted as a professional shogi player when he was in middle school. He lives by himself in Tokyo, because his parents and younger sister died in a traffic accident when he was little. One day, Kiriyama Rei meets three sisters who are his neighbours. The three sisters are Kawamoto Akari, Kawamoto Hinata and Kawamoto Momo. This is his first meeting with someone outside of the shogi world in many years. Having meals with the Kawamoto family brings warm feelings to Kiriyama Rei. As Kiriyama Rei continues his shogi career, his interactions with his neighbours allow him to grow as a shogi player and as a person.

B. Tech graduates Antony and Vinay Dasan are talented, but unemployed. That changes, however, when they approach the cyber cell with a new perspective to a film piracy case.
