There is an old, but special hospital in the Kabukicho district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. Because of the surrounding entertainment district, the hospital receives people that are different than the average Japanese person. The patients that visit the hospital include homeless people, foreign residents, hosts, and sex workers. One day, a mysterious woman named Nishi Freeman Yoko appears at the hospital. She is a doctor with a U.S. citizenship and military medical experience from the U.S. She begins to work at the hospital and becomes a presence that brightens up everything around her. Meanwhile, Takamine Toru is a beauty dermatologist, but he studies anesthesia at his uncle’s hospital where Nishi Freeman Yoko begins to work. Takamine Toru dreams of remodeling his uncle's hospital and opening a cosmetic surgery hospital, but, after he meets he meets Nishi Freeman Yoko, his life changes.

Kankuro Haruhara is a research officer at the Meteorological Research Institute. With his handsome appearance and fresh smile, he appears on the weather segment of a news program. Soma Yui and Torino Naoki were childhood friends, but they met again as adults. Just as he decides to propose to Yui, Naoki suddenly disappears from Yui's sight after being embroiled in a mysterious incident. Naoki continues to wander in this world as a spirit without knowing that he has died.

Naoki asks Uozumi Yuzuru, a detective who is the only one able to see Naoki, to convey his feelings to Yui, but Naoki ends up breaking up without properly saying "thank you, goodbye, and I love you" to the person he loves the most.

Nara Kenichi is a police officer who is tasked to investigate the disappearance of a 11-year-old girl Ishioka Aoi. It is not known if she was abducted, met with an accident or left home on her own because her parents were about to get divorced. Kenichi takes an exceptional interest in this case as his younger sister Mayuko has been affected emotionally since she was attacked by a man so he desperately wants to prevent something similar from happening.

Fumi lives a wholesome life in a small town among dear friends. One day, her car is hit by a meteorite, the odds of which are 100 million to 1. "Such an unlikely event. Maybe something good will happen in my life!" As she becomes excited at that thought, Shinoda Goro, a man who used to be a dentist in Tokyo, moves to the town where she lives. He has experienced a tragedy, having failed to prevent his wife from committing suicide. Fumi happens to see him blowing a tune on a leaf in a park, and is touched by the lonesome figure he cuts. She has also experienced her own unforgettable personal tragedy, having lost her son in an accident. The two of them, each bearing the own emotional scars, awkwardly grow closer to each other, and Fumi's life, which had been on hold until then, slowly starts moving again.

Tsuda Umeko was born in December 31, 1864 and became a pioneer in women's eductation.

In 1871, Tsuda Umeko, with her father's recommendation, went to the United States to study at the age of 6. She was the youngest of the group of females to travel there. They were the first Japanese female students to study overseas at their government's expense.

11 years after studying in the United States, Tsuda Umeko returns to Japan. She wants to become a woman who is helpful to her culture, but she is shocked by the low status of women in Japan.

Toko runs a small restaurant named Snack Kizutsuki. Her restaurant serves snacks, but doesn't sell alcohol. She welcomes her customers, who carry wounds in their minds.

Mizuguchi Saki is an outstanding fashion magazine editor who grew up in a modern and liberal family. She meets Obara Koichi who is the ace of the Air Rescue Wing of the Air Self Defence Force. He grew up in a strict military family and is the classic straight-laced guy. Although Saki and Koichi are polar opposites, the two of them quickly get married without dating, believing that they would start a happy life as newly weds after a lavish wedding ceremony. However, as they begin living together in the same house, their differences in lifestyles and values result in differences in opinions and huge fights. Saki and Koichi soon decide to get a divorce. But the couple have difficulty breaking the news of their decision to their families, colleagues and friends who celebrated their marriage and looked forward to the future. They thus start activities behind the scenes to prepare for their divorce.

An Kazutaka (Emoto Tasuku) is a young, bashful psychiatrist whose jazz piano skills are as good as a pro. He also has a love for records and books. He searches for his place in the world in his youth. But when he meets the cheerful Shuko (Ono Machiko), who becomes his wife, he finally feels at peace with himself. Right after they have their first child, the Great Hanshin Earthquake strikes. Although his family is affected by the disaster, he begins to search for what he can do as a psychiatrist. As he listens to the stories of disaster victims, he realises that he can help not by treating them, but restoring their capacity to heal. Later on, he compiles his observations of the disaster-hit area as a psychiatrist into a book, and wins a prize for social sciences. He sees this as a positive sign. However, one day when he is 39, he discovers that he has cancer.

Nanase Sakura is a 23-year-old rookie nurse. She met Doctor Kairi Tendo several years ago and fell in love with him. To meet him again, she studied hard and became a nurse. After 5 years, she finally meets Kairi Tendo again, but he has a totally different personality than what she imagined. Kairi Tendo, who is 31-years-old, is commonly referred to as the "Devil" at work. He is a level-headed perfectionist and often makes biting remarks to doctors and nurses. Nanase Sakura works hard to receive recognition from Kairi Tendo and she also expresses her feelings honestly to him. Due to her persistence, Nanase Sakura becomes well known at the hospital and she picks up the nickname of the "Warrior." Meanwhile, Kairi Tendo becomes attracted to Nanase Sakura.

Kajiki Hidemaru, Chu-san, and Yuki are patients at a psychiatric hospital in Komoro, Nagano Prefecture. Hidemaru killed his mother and daughter-in-law. Chu-san used to work as a salaryman, but he suffers from auditory hallucinations. Yuki is a high school student and she refuses to go to school. Due to that, she receives outpatient treatment.

Patients at the psychiatric hospital try to live brightly, but things suddenly change. A murder takes place at the hospital. The murderer is Hidemaru.

The story revolves around the daily life of Sana Morikawa, a 30-year-old single woman who works in the finance department of a soap maker.

One day, Nobuo Harada starts work as a Japanese language teacher at a high school. He is gay and dresses like a woman. He sympathizes with the lives and worries of his students.

Toto Neechan (とと姉ちゃん?) is an upcoming Japanese television drama series and the 94th asadora on NHK. It will premiere on April 4, 2016 and will end on October 1, 2016. The theme song is "Hanataba wo Kimi ni", by Utada Hikaru.

Aoishi Hanae is a plain, inconspicuous office lady who has had no experience in love and no boyfriend. On her 30th birthday, she happens to end up drinking with Tanokura Yuto, a cool university student nine years her junior who is also a part-timer at her company, on the way home from a welcome party for new employees. “A completely undetectable poison that kills 24 hours after consumed.” It is the rumour that has spread on the internet of a lethal drug that makes the perfect crime possible. It has even become a topic at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Crimes Unit which Sasamoto Naomi has been transferred to. The background of Professor Matsui Toichi who invented this poison at an East European university is obscure. What is known of him is a fuzzy picture on the internet and the digits inscribed on the back of his hand. Matsui has disappeared but starts to appear before people who are trapped by their problems and hands them the poison. “You are free to use it as you will,” he would tell them. Meanwhile, magazine journalist Akimoto Shunji who is engaged to Koide Reika, the daughter of the president of his company, learns of this poison too. He has a problem. It is the existence of Otsu Mayumi, a former high school classmate with whom he has been carrying on a relationship for half a year. She poses an obstacle to his marriage to Reika. And so, he attempts to broach a breakup with her, but is told that she is two months pregnant. On the way home, a troubled Akimoto is hailed by Matsui who passes him a small bottle with the poison. Later, Akimoto is invited to a meal at a posh restaurant by Reika’s father and forced to vow marriage to Reika. He puts a drop of the poison in Mayumi’s cup in order to protect his bright future even as he struggles with himself. Mayumi unsuspectingly brings that cup to her lips... On the morning two days after the incident, her dead body is found at an unexpected place.

The story will focus on a love triangle between the three leads. Eikura plays the role of Morimoto Naoko, a girl from the countryside whose first love is her uncle, Ikezawa Masato (ARATA). She follows after him to Tokyo by getting admitted into an elite medical university, but there she runs into Masato's girlfriend and colleague Aya (Kanno), a beautiful and intelligent researcher who is the daughter of the university hospital's director. However, things get complicated after Naoko and Masato meet again.

Ichiko and Eri are two beautiful Japanese university students who are in a lesbian relationship. Ichiko comes out to her father who tells her he is also gay and her mother was a lesbian. Her best friend is gay too, though he has a female who is after him. Their liaison is very intense, but Eri suggests a temporary separation so she can concentrate on her law studies. The break from their affair is difficult for Ichiko to deal with. But Eri soon sorts out her priorities.

Akihabara is a Tokyo district full of mangas, anime, electronics, video games, figurines, etc. It is a place that gathers fanatics of such themes, people who are commonly referred to as otaku. Page, Box, Akira, Taiko, Daruma, and Izumu are six otakus, each with his/her own troubles who sought relief through a website called "Yui's Lifeguard". When the site owner, Yui, died of a mysterious death, the six, who are each expert in their own fields, gathered to form "Akihabara@DEEP", a "troubleshooter" group that vows to protect Akihabara and solve the problems of its inhabitants.
