Rossa (Sheila Marcia) and Emily's relationship as sisters is getting sour. Emily's stubborness makes Rossa lose her temper and kick Emily out of their house. Emily goes to her aunt in Bogor, and the two never cross paths again. Rossa tells her best friend Tari that she senses something wrong. She worries that Emily has been abducted by the ghost train or "Kereta Hantu". Even though Rossa doesn't believe it, she follows Tari to meet Bobby who can cross over to the supernatural world. Finally, Bobby and two others hunt the ghost train, with the guidance of Ki Anom, a man who deals with the supernatural. But in the ghost train, the ghost that haunts them starts killing them one by one.

Cheung Wai-kit (Nicholas Tse) and Ngai Fung "Fit Lo" (Edison Chen) are best friends and two of Hong Kong's top young cops. After foiling a robbery attempt they are promoted to the Narcotic units led by hot-headed police chief Cheung Tit-Man (Simon Yam). During the arrest attempt, Fit Lo is seen letting Bryan go, which costs him his job. Now seemingly on opposite sides of the law, Kit and Fit Lo must try and keep their friendship together. To make things even more complicated Fit Lo is also married to Kit's former love interest and cousin Wing Chi (Gillian Chung).

Uehara Jiro, in the sixth year at elementary school, is from a family of five; his parents who are both ex-extremists, his elder sister and a younger sister. Children look coldly at their father, Ichiro, who does not work but is quick at lashing out for anything illogical. One day, Jiro snaps at a junior high school student in the neighborhood who ridiculed his parents and causes a violent incident. Being tired of all the fuss made by the school and the response from the child welfare, the Uehara family moves to the island of Iriomotejima, father's hometown. However, the island is in the midst of a row over a development plan to build resort facilities, and the family is sucked into the mayhem. Ichiro and his wife Sakura are arrested, but they break loose. They are forced to live a life as fugitives, and are unable to live with their children. The children, however, understand that their parents do not want to succumb to the establishment and support them.
