About two lovers drifting apart by reason of the American Dream. When Agnes (Lea Salonga), an overly dependent to the point of being spineless woman, was petitioned to the San Francisco by her absentee mother, she expected that her long-time boyfriend Jimmy (Aga Muhlach) would always be there for her as she struggles to survive on her own. However, as it turns out, Jimmy, an advertising executive, utilizes the time without his girlfriend to improve his career. The demands of their long distance relationship pull them apart, until Jimmy, detouring from an ad conference in New York, visits Agnes in the hopes of winning her back.

An extremist Taliban group takes a group of Korean tourists hostage in Afghanistan. The Korean government dispatches Jae Ho, known as one of Korea’s most skilled diplomats, to handle the situation. Once he arrives, he asks for the Afghan government’s cooperation and uses every means possible to free the hostages. However, Jae Ho’s efforts go in vain. Due to his failure, he’s forced to work with Dae Sik, a special agent who is an expert on the Middle East. As they begin making their move to get to the Taliban, the first hostage death occurs. With nowhere else to turn, the two become unlikely allies in a race against time to save the rest of the hostages.

Ding (Liu Kai-chi), the overbearing owner of a bullet factory in Tiancheng County, intimidates his workers to keep them in line, leading to a public Russian roulette "suicide" of a female employee (Xuxu) accused of stealing a box of bullets. A curse relating to a certain "Phantom Bullet" is found written in red on the walls of the factory, though the workers are soon ordered to scrub it off. Subsequent deaths from "phantom bullets" which are never found, seemingly vanishing, suggest that the factory has really been cursed. Song Donglu (Lau Ching-wan), a newly promoted detective with a slightly eccentric personality, is summoned by Tiancheng's police chief Jin (Wu Gang) to assist Guo Zhui (Nicholas Tse), "the fastest gunman in Tiancheng", and novice policeman Xiaowu (Boran Jing) in investigating the peculiar murders.

Cherrie Ying is Fanny, an extraordinarily skilled mahjong player and young housewife, who's usually forbidden from her tile-clicking addiction by husband Johnny (a smarmy Terence Yin). However, when Johnny falls in with bastard gambler Demon (Keung Ho-Man), Fanny gets sent packing. Luckily, she receives additional training from her mahjong sifu Three Tiles (Wong Tin-Lam), who also schooled Auntie Fei (Yuen Qiu) from Kung Fu Mahjong 1, as well as sexy player-in-training First Love (Tiffany Lee). With the aid of her mahjong sisters, brother Ronaldhino (Sammy), plus Auntie Fei's annoying husband Chi Mo Sai (Yuen Wah, also returning from KFM1), Fanny regroups in time to take on Curvy, Demon, and Johnnie at a climactic mahjong tournament.

Yan (Charmaine), a pampered daughter of the world-class restaurant's owner, has no cooking skills. She later meets Ka Kui (Hacken Lee), whose mother, a business woman in the food industry, despises Yan for her lack of cooking skills. Due to her clumsiness, which causes her father to have a heart attack, she is forced to learn how to cook in order to save her father's restaurant and reputation and to win back Ka Hui's heart.

Takemichi Hanagaki lives as a 26-year-old freeter. His life is basically miserable. One day, he learns from the news that Hinata Tachibana and her younger brother Naoto Tachibana were murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang. Takemichi Hanagaki is stunned by the news because Hinata Tachibana was his first love during his middle school days.

The next day, Takemichi Hanagaki is pushed by someone on a station platform and falls onto the railway track. At that moment, he goes back 10 years into the past. There, he tells Naoto Tachibana that in 10 years, Hinata Tachibana will get murdered. This changes the present day. Now, Naoto Tachibana works as a detective and avoids being killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang, but Hinata Tachibana's fate is different. She is murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang.

Takemichi Hanagaki then asks for help from Detective Naoto Tachibana. He wants to save Hinata Tachibana by going back in time to destroy the Tokyo Manji Gang.
