“Singer” is a film about pansori, a traditional Korean music genre of expressive singing and storytelling. It will take place in year 1734 during the Joseon Dynasty and tell the story of people in the lowest social status who write and sing songs about their lives while being exploited by aristocrats.

A mother lives quietly with her twenty-eight-year-old son, Do Joon, providing herbs and acupuncture to neighbours. One day, a girl is brutally murdered, and Do Joon is charged with the killing. Now, it's his mother's call whether to prove him innocent or to leave him imprisoned.

A frame that says, 'Drink makgeolli (rice wine) here and the one you miss will return' is hung on the wall of a tavern titled The Return. The tavern's regulars miss their lost ones.

With his power, he heals people who suffers from their own worries or traumas. Miyama lives peacefully with his girlfriend Shiori and her daughter Bibi. His girlfriend works as a nurse. One day, Miyama begins to have a strange feeling. This is due to Kusaka, who graduated from the same high school. Kusaka is now a musician living in Tokyo. To learn more, Miyama attends Kusaka's concert and meets him there. Kusaka tells Miyama something about Miyama and his ex-girlfriend Riko.

Successful debt collector Chiu takes pity on a group of wannabe pop starlets when he goes to collect from the agency they are signed with. Naively thinking that he can do a better job in launching their careers, Chiu takes over the company in lieu of the debt but starts to realize he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
