Kang Jae is a wealthy businessman and gangster and Mi Joo is a plastic surgeon. These two meet after Mi Joo mistakes Kang Jae as being her sleazy brother-in-law. Kang Jae just happens to be the boyfriend of Mi Joo's pregnant neighbour, Yoo Jin. Sae Yeon meets Mi Joo and falls in love with her feisty attitude. We Are Not Human tells the everyday life of Seven, a vampire, and A Nan, a zombie. Then other characters such as a ghost, a shaman, a robot and others will join them. What adventures and dangers await them as they discover how they were turned into these beings, and Seven discovers his identity while on the run from the shaman trying to take his life?

The plot is an honest-to-goodness story about the Yang family and their undying loyalty to the country and its useless and selfish emperor. As always, the father, General Yang, is blinded by his loyalty that he is way too strict and wooden with regards to his treatment towards his sons and the mother, Sai Hua, being the only one who stands up for her children. In this serial, the family has seven children, all male. Each son was given their role but the majority of the story revolved around the fourth son, Alec Su, who is the rebel type because he is the one being scolded the most as he has his own ideologies. The story goes on as the family faces the war and one by one, the members faltered.
