A young man who showed little promise while a high school student becomes a master detective, just like his grandfather. Tv series based on a serialized Japanese mystery manga (written by Yōzaburō Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Satō). The series was a big success and had a second season and a film in the next years, all starred by Domoto Tsuyoshi, half of KinKi Kids' duo. In 2001, the third season was starred by Matsumoto Jun (Arashi), in 2005 Kamenashi Kazuya (KAT-TUN) had the main role in a tv special, and in 2012 Yamada Ryosuke (Hey! Say! JUMP) was the last Johnny taking Kindaichi's role in another special for tv.

The poor Lin Sheung-Chun (Esther Kwan) was sold into the Kwan family as a concubine to help pay off her father's gambling debts. However, on the night of her marriage, her husband died. Hearing her screams, Wang Yeuk-Lam (Michelle Yim), the first wife, rushes in. Seeing her husband's dead body, she assumes Sheung-Chun is the murderer and tries to stab her, hitting her head on a table in the process. Yoshiyuki Saji does not get along with the other detectives there. He struggles to solve a case and he hears about Tokino Mitani's ability as an alibi cracker. He doesn't want to ask for her help, because of his pride as a police officer, but he requests her help on a case.

She slips into the very exclusive Toh Hospital which draws a stream of politicians, entertainers and intellectuals despite the expensive medical care. However, it is a hospital with novice doctors, adulterous nurses and spoiled patients. Among them is the head nurse, who is called the overall director of the "White Inner Palace", is tough on Akari and many difficulties are in store for her every day. Moreover, the policy to keep things that happen in the hospital under wraps is certainly like the inner palace.

Seven university students learn the hard way that romance and relationships aren't always easy. Being in love is tough, but friends can get through anything together.

Goro Zaizen and Shuji Satomi are assistant professors at Naniwa University Hospital. Goro is a brilliant surgeon who will do anything to make his way up the corporate ladder. On the other hand, Shuji is a physician who earnestly devotes himself to medical research. Though the two doctors have contrasting personalities and are considered to be rivals, they highly recognize each other's skills. The entire medical department is restless while preparing for the election to choose a new Surgical Department Professor. All Goro has on his mind, is how to win the election. Meanwhile, Shuji is looking after a patient who apparently has pancreatic cancer. He carries out tests on the patient cautiously, and is very careful in telling the patient of the cancer. However, Goro barges in on their conversation, and out of the blue, tells the patient he has cancer, and that he needs an operation right away. Shuji is furious at Goro's rude attitude, and yells, "Doctors are not God!" Goro ignores this, and starts laying the groundwork for the operation. But when Goro finds out that the Director of the Medical Department has already given a diagnosis of stomach cancer, he cancels the operation. He feels that pointing out his boss's misdiagnosis will only hurt him in the upcoming election. Shuji however, is determined to save the patient's life and go on with the operation.
