Poongryu: Battle Between the Vocalists is a new music competition program aiming to showcase popular music and Korean traditional music crossover. The show features the best traditional musicians that can impress the expert judges and viewers and home and remind the appeal of our own folk music. Let's follow the journey of finding the first Captain Poongryu.

To take care of dogs that are hurt and abandoned by humans, the celebrities who claim to be the dog experts built a temporary shelter. Various things take place as humans who pose themselves as lovely dogs’ butler start living together with those adorable dogs with unfortunate stories. Dogs get rescued at the dangerous and lonely roads and get treated to meet new families. Will they be able to overcome their trauma with humans’ care and meet new families?

The program revolves around the battle of two teams led by Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Hee-yeol. Each team will bring back a "Sugar Man": the singer who was a one-hit wonder, but has since disappeared from the public eye. The two teams recreate the old song, "Sugar Song", into new versions which will make them appealing to today's music market. To relive their glory, the songs will be recreated by each producer from each team with today's artist, "Show Man", who are slated to change every episode.
