In this quirky, meta Korean series shot from the perspective of a computer web cam, a director tries to make informative how-to videos about his creative process–and instead reveals an intimate inside look at his hilariously awkward private life as seen through his texts, video calls, Photobooth snaps, Final Cut projects, and internet search history. Drunk impulse purchases, blackmail, and flaccid nipples abound.

The series continues the fantasy and horror style of the previous two seasons, telling 12 different stories: speakers that make strange voices, wigs that grow out of the floor, black and white photos hidden under the bed, a washing machine that can make anything disappear, a phone call from a parallel universe... Every episode has a cursed story.

Spanning from 1925 to 1949, the series focuses on three children of a big family in Liling county, Hunan province and their search for a political path in the chaos of 20th century China. Their life is set against a number of significant historic events, such as First United Front, Second United Front, the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–45), Chinese Civil War and the foundation of the People's Republic of China.

A Splendid Life In Beijing depicts the life of four brothers from their young years in the 1970s, when they grow up as ordinary people in Beijing’s alleys, till their fourties. Misfortune strikes when the oldest brother accidentally kills his neighbor with a fruit knife while fooling around. He has to pay for his actions and goes to jail. The second oldest brother’s dream is to have his own successful business. He starts out by buying and reselling mung bean sprouts, then opens his own mutton stall and later enters the fashion market. Even though his businesses continuously fail, he doesn’t give up. But he doesn’t only show persistence towards his work, he’s also persistent in pursuing his love. The second youngest brother throws himself into the stock market right after graduating from university. At the same time, he becomes entangled in a love triangle. Finally, the youngest brother has asthma and stammers. In order to not be a burden to his family, he trains hard and diligently practices tongue twisters and comic dialogues. He later becomes a postman and finds his true love through his job.

According to a national census, the number of unmarried women between the age of 30 to 40 has been increasing and is now at the highest. Compared to 10 years ago, the rate of unmarried women have increased by 6.7% and 8.5% for woman in their early 30’s and late 30’s, respectively. Why are they not getting married? The women appearing in this drama are unmarried for various reasons including, they have high expectations, are not able to be themselves in front of men, become attracted to losers, think being single is much more easier, or they think men are unreliable. They’re almost about to lose all hope, however, it’s not that they don’t want to get married, it’s just... things just don’t work out, they don’t know if they’re getting married for themselves or to please others, or they question whether there really is a reason to get married.
