Kaneko Misuzu Monogatari (TBS Drama Special, 09 July 2012) tells about the brief life of poet and songwriter Kaneko Misuzu (real name, Kaneko Teru). The story starts in the spring of 1920, Kaneko Teru (Ueto Aya) has just graduated from high school. She is young and vibrant and has dreams of becoming a poet. Her cousin, Masasuke (Imai Tsubasa) is very fond of her, and yearns to tell her of his feelings. However, he does not know the awful truth about his adoption, and that he is actually the younger brother of Teru. Feeling that Masasuke and Teru are getting too close for comfort, Masasuke's adoptive father tries to separate the two. Three thousand years ago, the Space Pirates Barban invaded Earth. The Starbeasts and the first Gingaman, warriors of the Ginga Forest, fought them with the mystical power called Earth and eventually were able to imprison them. The Ginga people later cloaked their forest within marked boundaries and passed on the duty of the Ginga warriors through generations. Hyuuga, Hayate, Gouki, Hikaru and Saya are chosen as the 133rd warriors of the Star Beast Swords. Ryouma is very happy that his elder brother Hyuuga succeeds to the honorable title. When Elder Ohghi holds the succession ceremony of Star Beast Swords, an earthquake breaks the seal of Barban. Ohghi orders the 133rd warriors to get the Ginga Braces hidden in Roaring Mountain. However, the Barban attacks them to prevent the birth of the new Gingamen. During the battle, Hyuuga got swallowed into a crack in the ground which Captain Zahab of the Barban created. Enraged, Ryouma activates his hidden Earth power and awaken the Ginga Braces. The Gingaman fights together with the Starbeasts against the Barban, who desire to revive the Demon Beast, Daitanix, on whose 'corpse' they built their castle.

The all-conquering snooker player Yau Yat Kiu (Adam Cheng) takes everyone by surprise when he suddenly retires from the snooker world. This comes as a huge disappointed to her daughter Yau Ka Kan (Niki Chow), who has always wanted to follow in his footsteps. She feels bewildered too, for although Kiu pretends he does not care about the snooker any more, he has set up an extremely difficult game in his restaurant. His purpose cannot be more obvious: he is waiting for someone to solve the game. Kiu comes to know Kan Tze Him (Patrick Tang) by chance. Noticing his flair for the snooker, Kiu decides to make an exception for Him and teaches him all he knows about the game. Later, Kan manages to persuade her father into taking her in as well. Him fancies Kan, but she is fond of Lui Kin Chung (Derek Kwok), Kiu's bitter foe. Chung is a crafty person. In order to win the game, he fools around with Him's aunt Chin To To (Joyce Tang), who is also Him's manager. Him falls out with Kiu because of Chung. Both master and disciple come to settle their scores on a snooker-table in the end.

After the failure of the Great Revolution, Xiang Jing Yu insisted on staying in Wuhan. In 1928, she was arrested and executed. She was only 32.

LEE LIN YIN (Wayne Lai) and ON TAK HOI (Raymond Cho) came from poor families and were sold to become palace eunuchs at a young age. The two later become apprentices of senior eunuch LAU DOR SAN (King Sir) and developed a deep brotherly relationship. Both became important high ranked officials for Empress Dowager CIXI (Michelle Yim). Unfortunately, TAK HOI had a heart of greed and eventually his relationship with the careful LIN YIN started drifting apart. CHAN FUK (Elliot Ngok) is the head of the eununchs, but he saw he was losing his authority because LIN YIN and TAK HOI won the Empress' favor. He started plotting against the two, but LIN YIN was fortunate to have palace maid SIN YUNG (Nancy Wu) and the eunuch pharmacist, YIU SEUNG HEI's (Raymond Wong) assistance. Meanwhile, it's time for EMPEROR TONGZI (Oscar Leung) to choose his empress, which worried Empress Dowager CI'AN (Maggie Siu) that CIXI may get even more powerful. She joins forces with the Grand Prince (KK Cheung) to drive CIXI into an isolated and helpless position.
