Sugiyama (Ikki Sawamura) used to be the most popular copywriter at the largest advertising agency. He quit his job there to open up his own advertising agency, but his company doesn't do very well. He decides to move his company to a dead shopping district of a port town in decline. Even though the port town is lifeless and in serious decline, people go to see Sugiyama with small requests. Sugiyama begins his struggle as a small advertising agency.

This is a renzoku for the middle-aged single men and women out there in the world. Kyosuke is divorced and somewhat of a hopeless case. Although considered a loser, he's still a good person. Shoko is in her 30s. Separated with no kids, she is considered by some to be a bit of a loser too which is a stab in the heart for any woman. Men can get away with being useless and still attract women. On the other hand, women who have nothing going for them aren't that appealing. This is a somewhat unusual story about men like Kyosuke and the women that are attracted to him, as well as single women like Shoko and their goal of getting that reliable mate.

The drama is about a highly successful lawyer who falls from grace because of one case. He becomes a fixed term teacher at a high school that is tied to that case in order to regain his honor. Though he goes into the classroom for selfish reasons, he begins to see the crimes that take place and he takes matters into his own hands to help protect victims from their peers. The drama will shine a spotlight on the reality of teenagers facing little to no repercussions after committing a crime because they are teenagers, providing no protection for those who become a victim to these crimes.

The story takes place during the Muromachi period of Ancient Japan, in the midst of the Onin War. The main character in the series is Tomiko Hino, a historical figure with a bad reputation because of her actions to rebuild Kyoto after the Onin War.
