The story follows a young man who has been single for a year after his boyfriend suddenly disappeared without a formal breakup. The film started production in 1995 and it was just completed in 2012, hence the 2012 date. In 1997 (the not-to-distant future, in their eyes), Tokyo has been torn apart by gang violence, and two organizations in particular, the Japanese nationalist Kamikaze and the Chinese-immigrant led Baihubang, are embroiled in a bitter feud resulting from decades-long racial tensions. As things boil over into all-out war, two women fall into forbidden love, and a lesbian Romeo & Juliet love affair--of sorts--begins.

In 1999, Yong studies mechanical engineering at a university. He first entered the school in 1995, but took time off to perform his mandatory military service. After finishing his military service, he came back to school as a student. His first love is Han Sol.

Yong then somehow communicates with Mu Nee. Mu Nee lives in the present day. She enrolled at her university in 2021 and majors in sociology. Yong and Mu Nee, who are from different time periods, communicate and their story unfolds.
