In the early days of the Republic, legendary martial artist Ye Ruzhou suffers a severe injury, losing her memory and winding up in the impoverished alley of Minfu Lane. North Korea's 8th Special Forces hijacks a shipment of CTX, a potent new liquid explosive, and threatens South Korea as part of a plot to re-unify the two countries.Ryu and Lee, special agents of O.P., South Korea's secret intelligence service, attempt to track down the terrorists and find the CTX. An old man suffering from depression is found dead, and his housekeeper, Mi Ran, is charged with the murder. Set in Kabukicho, which is an entertainment and red-light district in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. Tatsuhiko Shiratori (Gou Ayano) doesn't have money or a job. One day, he meets a scout named Matora (Yusuke Iseya) who recruits girls on the streets to work in the adult entertainment business. Matora likes Tatsuhiko and introduces Tatsuhiko to the world where he works. Tatsuhiko soon works as a scout too.

A Thai girl called C follows her sister into the movie business. Although her career as an actress is taking off, her love life takes a nose dive after she finds out that her boyfriend, Aof, has a new girlfriend. She breaks up with him only to find out later that the new girl friend is dead. Shortly after, C then feels like she is being haunted by a ghost.

This horror anthology takes its cue from the short fiction of writer Taro Hirai, better known by his nomme du plume Edogawa Rampo - wordplay on the name of legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe. Acclaimed MV director Takeuchi Suguru begins proceedings with Mars Canal, which sees a naked man (Asano Tadanobu) collapse at the edge of a lake that descends, seemingly into the bowels of hell itself. This segment is used to effectively tie together the three main narrative segments of the film. Mirror Hell, directed by Jissoji Akio, sees a detective (Asano again) following a trail of beautiful female corpses back to a mad mirror maker. The Caterpillar (by Sato Hisayasu) sees a limbless war veteran return home only to be systematically abused by his wife. And in Crawling Bugs, by manga artist Kaneko Atsushi, a chauffeur (Asano yet again) becomes obsessed with his actress employer.
