In 1944, the American military lands on the shores of Saipan. Makoto Fukamachi (Junichi Okada) is a Japanese cameraman. He finds an old camera on a backstreet of Nepal. The camera might possibly solve the mystery of whether George Mallory became the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest on June 8, 1924 or not. Pursuing the old camera's past, Makoto Fukamachi meets legendary Alpinist Joji Habu (Hiroshi Abe). Joji Habu is isolated from other people because of his reckless and thoughtless personality.

The rookie star Zhang Zheng Yi, who murdered his girlfriend and was imprisoned seven years ago, kidnapped Liu Li Min, a former media worker, to escape from prison. Li Min uses the whole situation to his advantage and announces on his channel that he would re-investigate the case. But the more he digs into it, the more he discovers many dark secrets, also related to his private life. Will the fight for the truth be worth it?

Two teenagers, Masami and Tomoko, talk about a videotape recorded by a boy in Izu which is fabled to bear a curse that kills the viewer seven days after watching. Tomoko reveals that a week ago, she and three of her friends watched a weird tape and received a call after watching. Tomoko goes downstairs and witnesses her TV turn on by itself. She later hears startling noises and turns around, only to be killed by an unseen force.

Days later, Asakawa Reiko, a reporter investigating the popularity of the video curse, discovers that her niece Tomoko, and her three other friends, mysteriously died at the same time, on the same night, with their faces twisted in fear. She also discovers that Masami became insane from witnessing Tomoko's death and is institutionalized in a mental hospital. After stumbling upon Tomoko's photos from the past week, Reiko finds that the four teenagers stayed in a rental cabin in Izu.

Shama is a fictional place in northwestern China. Legend has it robbers hide many treasures there. To improve the life of the villagers, Tang Gaopeng, the town head, decides to promote Shama as a robber-themed resort. He collects some old items from the villagers and takes them to an antique TV show. To his surprise, the show does not attract any tourists; however it does attract a group of illegal dealers.
