Aruo, the dragon girl from the East China Sea, is determined to find her beloved, and comes to the mortal Wang Sheng at all costs. When the world is hit with a naturally occuring virus that spreads among all living things, humans begin to turn into insatiable zombies. In a blink, the world as we know it collapses. Furthermore, the few remaining survivors are unable to use the available food resources. They therefore develop a new crop to support themselves. Survivors depend on one profession, their only hope; someone in this profession must brave the dangers to send and recieve food and packages of necessities. These people are called Riders.

Kim Ji Su is a 31-year-old single woman who once wanted to become a famous pianist like Horowitz. Her dream was shattered but she was able to go on by teaching children to play the piano.

One day, she discovers a young boy, Gyung Min, who is a musical genius. She starts to give him intensive music lessons, preparing him for competition, but it does not turn out well. But later, when all seems lost, Ji Su is utterly shocked when she realizes that Gyung Min carries a secret that will change her life forever.

Director Isshin Inudo should be quite happy these days. Recently, he wrote the screenplay for Resurrection (Yomigaeri, 2003) which director Akihiko Shiota turned into a big hit across the country. Now, Inudo's own movie Josee, the Tiger and the Fish has turned into both an indie crowd pleaser and a successful crowd puller. While Yomigaeri is a fantastic fable about the dead coming back to life in order to settle things with those they left behind, Josee is a much more down-to-earth story about a normal guy falling for an abnormal, physically disabled girl. What is fantastic about Josee, though, is its unique cinematic style and quirky humour that makes it a heart-warming experience. Tsuneo (Tsumabuki, of Waterboys fame) is in the beginning of the movie an easygoing student who enjoys a laid-back college life consisting of a part-time job at a mah-jong parlour and casual sex with girls from his school. The life ahead of him seems pretty straightforward and predictable. Then he hears rumours in the mah-jong parlour of a strange old woman who pushes a baby carriage around in the neighbourhood. Why does she always bring a baby carriage? What does it contain? While the busy minds of the customers in the parlour ponder over these questions, the manager asks Tsuneo to take his dog out for a walk. Out walking the dog, the baby carriage in question literally bumps into Tsuneo, and his curiosity leads him to peek inside it. That becomes his first encounter with the strange young woman, Josee (charmingly played by up-and-coming Ikewaki).

The life of Ip Sae, a 19-year-old girl who cannot get out of her own bed due to psychological injury, is as motionless as a plant. Three years ago, the drama tutor Lam Hiu-Yeung's brother was kidnapped and killed. The case was handled by Inspector Madem Ho Yuen Chun, who is known for her sharp wit and intelligence, but was unfortunately unable to save Lam Hiu-Yeung's brother in the end. Now Lam Hiu-Yeung faces the horror of losing her husband, Liu Quian, who has cancer. While trying to find a means to get the money to pay for his medical expenses abroad, Lam Hiu-Yeung recalls how the Police handled her brother's kidnap; and feeling desperate and helpless, she decides to risk it all and plan a kidnap for some quick ransom money. Her target is Tycoon Wong Sam's seven-year-old son, opening a case that is also handled by Inspector Madem Ho Yuen Chun. Strangely to Ho Yuen Chun, the kidnappers seem to be able to predict the Police's every move, turning the negotiation process into a psychological battlefield. As the Police periodically lose track of the kidnappers involved, they don't realize that they are in fact getting closer to find out the true identity of the criminals. Finally, just as the truth is about to be revealed, Ho Yuen Chun discovers that the hostage is in fact her own son, Ho-yin. As the pressure becomes too much for Ho Yuen Chun, she begins to lose her mind, driving her to use desperate measures and risk her career in order to solve the case once and for all.
