Song of the Exile is a semi-fictionalised autobiography directed by Ann Hui.

When Adam and Eva break up after ten years, Adam thinks the breach was caused by one trivial incident, but Eva knows she's already forgiven Adam 77 times! Sweethearts since law school, Adam changed professions to start a Thai boxing studio and gradually became indifferent to Eva. Seemingly petty matters, like forgetting she hates raisin cookies, become the catalyst for her moving out and changing her Facebook status to "single".

Despondent, Adam has a drunken tryst with his student, Mandy. Adam gains new insight after accidentally discovering Eva's private journal. Entitled "77 Heartbreaks", the title refers to the philosophy that "forgiving someone 7 times isn't enough; 70 x 7 times is too much; so go ahead and forgive 77 times!" Reading it makes Adam realize his love. But what can he do to win her back?

As three friends prepare to enter adulthood with their high school graduation only a few months away, they lose June after he dies in a fire. His girlfriend Chae-young (Ha-Neul Kim) seeks solace with June's close friend Do-ki (Ji-tae Yu). Do-ki has loved Chae-young for an extended period of time and inches towards revealing his feelings. As they hold an impromptu funeral ceremony for June outside of their high school Do-ki and June kiss for the first time. It's obvious to Do-ki that Chae-young still thinks of June even when they kiss. Two teenagers then approach with one having an uncanny resemblance to June. The four soon to be friends then go through an extended period of self discovery as they experiment with sex and drugs.

Jang Dong Soo is a gang boss in Cheonan. He becomes the target of a serial killer, Kang Kyung Ho, but ultimately survives the attack. He is the only person to have ever survived from an attack by this serial killer. Detective Jung Tae Seok hates organized crime but is forced to work with Jang Dong Soo in order to catch the serial killer.
