Natsuko lives her dream as a copy writer for an advertising company in Tokyo. But when she hits a slump in her career, she returns to her family's sake brewery in the countryside. There she discovers her older brother has been hunting down a phantom rice called tatsunishiki, believing it to be ideal for creating a new sake. He finds the rice seeds he needs to begin his new sake, but right after Natsuko returns to Tokyo with her spirits renewed, he passes away suddenly. Despite new success at her job, she decides to quit and return home to continue her brother's dream. What begins is a several years long journey, first to cultivate the notoriously difficult to grow tatsunishiki, and then to perfect the brewing process of her new sake.

A sad and painstaking love story between a teacher and student as it follows the heroine and her plot for revenge. Official Ji sent his daughter Qiyue to learn the arts under the guidance of the Chu Family's second son. Qiyue changes her name to Yiluo (Helan Dou). The second son Chu Che (Feng Lijun) is a beautiful young man with an arrogant demeanor. Because of a mysterious illness, he lives in seclusion unwilling to see visitors. During the summer in 2014, popular actor Takayuki Yamada is filming his role in a new movie. During this time, he is having problems separating his character from his real self. Takayuki Yamada decides to read manga “Uhyo! Tokyo-to Kita-ku Akabane.” The manga depicts unique, real people living in the Akabane area of Tokyo. Takayuki Yamada is impressed with the manga. He also decides to go to Akabane to find himself.

Takayuki Yamada first contacts director Nobuhiro Yamashita and asks him to film him in Akabane. He then makes an appointment to meet manga writer Toru Seino (writer and main character in "Uhyo! Tokyo-to Kita-ku Akabane”) in Akabane. Takayuki Yamada goes on to meet other people from the manga and also interacts with his acting friends Gou Ayano, Kyosuke Yabe, director Hitoshi One, musician Kazuya Yoshii and others.

A group of three completely different friends share a very common reality. They have no money. As they scrounge through life their worries compile as they talk of fleeing to Vietnam, robbing old ladies or even selling their own bodies. All because driving a Taxi in Seoul during the 90's just doesn't quite pay the bills.

Harashima Shuichiro (Sanada Hiroyuki) is a wealthy but lonely businessman who succeeded his father's company after his death. Reputed to be cold, merciless, and corrupted in his dealings, he seeks only to expand his company and profit at the expense of others. One day, he experiences some painful seizures and decides to secretly visit a clinic. To his horror, he finds out that he has an incurable case of cancer and only has three months left to live. There, he is asked by a working-class man, Konosuke Shimodaira (Tamaki Koji) to lend him 30 cents. Unknowing of Harashima's plight, Konosuke cheerfully promises to pay Harashima back. Happy yet poor, Konosuke is the direct foil of Harashima - a man living an empty existence with money.

From this moment onwards, Konosuke invites Harashima into his world - a world without money, but brimming with compassion and friendship, alien concepts to Harashima's cold heart. Although Harashima at first resists Konosuke's attempts to become friends, he eventually gravitates towards Konosuke and his friends' warmth, even finding love in the innocent Kaori (Matsushima Nanako). However, they have no idea that Harashima is the same man who is planning to demolish their homes in order to build a business center. How will his newfound friends react, and what will Harashima do with his last remaining months left to live?
