Soo Ji, who was adopted by an American couple, meets swindler Joon Soo and falls in love with him. Soo Ji gets pregnant, but Joon Soo runs back to Korea. Soo Ji decides to go to South Korea to find Joon Soo, but Soo Ji is abandoned by Joon Soo. By chance, Soo Ji happens to meet a wealthy young man named Young Woo and proceeds to pull off an elaborate hoax. In the process, Soo Ji falls in love with Young Woo’s younger brother Sun Woo.

When Shoutarou Tatewaki first meets Sakurako Kujou, he knows his life will never be the same. Initially believing her to be responsible for a disappearance in the neighborhood, he later learns of her true talent: analyzing bone specimens. Sakurako has quite the collection of reconstructed animal bones, but she wishes she had more of the human variety, much to the chagrin of those around her. Soon, Shoutarou begins accompanying the eccentric osteologist on the many different unsolved cases she comes across—usually in the form of decomposing bodies. But with so many incidents happening around them, could there be a larger mystery at work in their lives?

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru is a story of two unlikely partners, each showing in their own way that bones can tell how one died, but only people can tell how they lived.

This drama is set in the late 1960s decade of Japan. The main rivalry depicted in the story is between Manpyo Daisuke (Kitaoji Kinya), a powerful banker, and his eldest son, Manpyo Teppei (Kimura Takuya), the executive managing director of a steel firm. For some reasons, Daisuke seem to dislike his own son and as Teppei seems to find out the reason for Daisuke's hatred, his whole life is turned upside down with fatal consequences.

Liu Yi Yang and Tong Jia Qian, two long-time love birds from very different family backgrounds, enter into a "naked marriage" after Jia Qian discovers that she's pregnant, exchanging "no frills" nuptials without the material basis for matrimony - that is, no house or car of their own, or even a real wedding ceremony. After much debate, it's finally decided that the newlywed couple would live with Liu Yi Yang's parents, but conflicts continue to arise with 3 generations living under the same roof and differing viewpoints on issues such as financial management and pregnancy habits. Haruko (Maki Yoko), an events producer, is the second of the Inuyama family’s three daughters. She turns down a proposal from the man she has been cohabiting with, causing their relationship to turn awkward.
