People in the village continue to leave town. Even Hungai's wife ends up in leaving, due to their daughter's illness. As Hungai drinks in despair and anguish, Korean refugee CHOI Soon-hee knocks at his door with her son, Chang-ho. Now there remain only these three in the desert, who have to depend on one another to overcome the hostile environment. The three get to know each other, even though they don't speak the same language. Furthermore Jorick, a young tank soldier from the nearby Mongolian armored troops, becomes friends with Chang-ho as he frequents the village. Hungai's relationship with CHOI Soon-hee grows in the fine line between love and friendship.

A story of an entrepreneurial miner racked by guilt over the death of his lover's husband. Set in the fictional community of Tianquan, somewhere in bleak northern China, coal miner Li Guangsheng lives and works with the older Zhongmin, a father figure. Guangsheng, who is secretly having a hotsyhotsy affair with Zhongmin's wife, is mortified when Zhongmin dies in a mine explosion and blames himself for not saving his friend. Suffering an attack of impotence, he sends Zhongmin's widow away. After buying the mine under a new government policy designed to encourage private initiative, Guangsheng works like a Trojan to clear and re-open the site. He's joined in this by Zhongmin's son, A-fu, and gradually makes a success of the mine.

"Spirits' Homecoming, Unfinished Story" is part dramatization and part documentary. The film contains scenes from the movie “Spirits’ Homecoming” and testimonials by comfort women who were enslaved by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.

Sugihara Kohei, a college student who has distanced himself from others unconsciously because he is hard of hearing and it keeps causing one misunderstanding after another. One day his classmate Taiichi stumbles into him and notices his delicious bento. Kohei gives Taiichi part of his lunch, to Taiichi's delight, but leaves without saying a word to Taiichi. Taiichi only later finds out from others that Kohei is hard of hearing. Taiichi has a bright personality to the point of foolishness, and he tells Kohei, "It's not your fault that you can't hear!" Those words save Kohei, and he begins to change. Taiichi and Kohei begin a relationship that's more than friends, but less than lovers.

Built on the melancholy theme “disappear with the wind,” the film will center around the trials and tribulations of youths as they struggle to find their way in this changing world. (A young girl pursues her childhood sweetheart, and finally gets into the college he went to, only to learn that he has left to study abroad. She makes new friends, becomes enemies with a cold but handsome man, and then falls for him – but wait, there’s more!
