Yorozuya's portrayal of Ôgami in the series, is said to be more faithful to the manga than the Wakayama films. Considering the lenght and number of episodes this can only be expected. These series follows the manga comics very closely so anyone who has read them will enjoy these shows. Starring Yorozuya Nakamura as Ôgami Ittô the Shogun's executioner, who was disgraced by false accusations from the Yagyû clan and has been forced to take the path of the assassin.

Adapted from the popular manga, this drama is set in the town of Higashimikawa in the prefecture of Ehime and is about Kamogawa Yoshiro, an average teenager, with no special talents nor outstanding abilities. Until one day, he could suddenly hear other people's thoughts. He could tell that Hayashi-sensei harbors some ulterior motive when it comes to dealing with the new transfer student, Asami Sae. Later that day, at the Cafe where he often hangs out, he realises that his childhood friend, Hirano Miyuki, and the Cafe owner, Nagano Terumitsu, have also acquired new powers. Meanwhile, upon hearing the news of how many townspeople are suddenly acquiring special powers, the mysterious teacher and his assistant decide to move to the town of Higashimikawa...

The story is based on the life of fashion designer Koshino Ayako, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 92. Although she was a successful designer in Japan, she also single-handedly raised three daughters who followed in her footsteps to become internationally known designers, named Hiroko, Junko, and Michiko. Ono's character in the drama, modeled after Koshino, is named Ohara Itoko. She will play the character from her teenage years to her fifties. The story is set in the Kansai region, but Ono will have no problem with the dialect since she is originally from Nara.

Sasaki Norimichi and his wife Ritsuko are two lawyers with opposite personalities, who've been married for three years. However, their completely opposite personalities result in heated quarrels that lead them to the courtroom to settle a possible divorce, with the two representing themselves in an amusing legal battlefield.

High school student Hoshi Izumi (Nagasawa Masami) loses her father suddenly in an accident. One day, Sakuma (Tsutsumi Shinichi), the waka gashira of a small and weak Yakuza gang in Asakusa – the Medaka Gumi – pays Izumi a visit along with the gang members. The death of their former kumicho (Boss) puts Medaka Gumi on the verge of a breakup. Therefore, Sakuma begs Izumi, the former boss's only distant relative left, to succeed to the kumicho position. Izumi is taken by surprise and keeps refusing at first. However, she ends up becoming the 8th kumicho of the Medaka Gumi! The police tell her that her father's death may possibly be a homicide case. There's also Mayumi (Koizumi Kyoko), a mysterious woman staring closely at Izumi's father's photograph at his funeral. The situation becomes complicated when the drug-dealing vicious yakuza, Hamaguchi Gumi, comes into the picture as well as Sandaiji Hajime (Ogata Ken), a politician whose public stance is to eliminate drugs. --TBS
