Continuing the first season, Like a Flowing River II follows the story of Song Yun Hui, Lei Dong Bao, and Yang Xun as they take part in China’s economic reform from the 1980s to the 1990s. Song Yun Hui has been promoted as the youngest deputy leader in Donghai Chemical. He brings his family to live with him in Donghai, but his wife Cheng Kai Yan’s laziness and distrust take a toll on their marriage that eventually ends in divorce. With his innate business capabilities, Song Yun Hui continues to take up leadership roles thus bringing his team success as they complete project after project. Sadly, Song Yun Hui's climb in the corporate ladder instils envy in those around him. Xiao Lei's family business keeps growing with the times, yet a small blunder in the safety procedures causes a massive explosion in their copper factory. Lei Dong Bao is charged with bribery and sentenced to jail. After being released, he starts his own business as an electrical distributor. Wei Chun Hong, on the other hand, is always by his side, supporting and encouraging him. Arriving in Donghai to seek opportunities, Yang Xun finds success in the current markets. While working with Liang Si Zhong, he starts to admire and develop feelings for her all while he continues to create fake accounts that harm the company. Liang Si Zhong’s father discovers this and intervenes, dealing a huge blow to Yang Xun’s career. As Yang Xun falls to the lowest point in his life, he finds comfort in someone close to him.

At the Playboys Private Detective Agency, all the members are men older than 55. The director of the private detective agency is an ex-detective. The members of the agency have varied backgrounds like a former taxi driver, physician and ex-Olympic athlete. Koichiro Iwase (Katsumi Takahashi) worked in the sales department of a consumer electronics company, but he now works as a private detective. He tries to solve clients' request, while sometimes cooperating and sometimes opposing the other members of the Playboys Private Detective Agency.

Mrs Ko, Tung Kwok Hing (Rebecca Chan) adopted an orphan and claimed he was Ko Yi Ho (Raymond Wong), the illegitimate child that her husband Ko Siu Tong (Samuel Kwok) had been searching for many years. Tong believed Ho was more suitable than his oldest son Ko Yi Tai (Joel Chan) to be his successor, which later led to discontent. Eventually Ho was kicked out of the family, leaving him homeless. Living out alone, Ho got a taste of the bitterness in life and was determined to return home and take revenge on his adopted family under a different name Tung Boon Sin. The good-hearted Sum just took over the family soy sauce business, but Ho did not hesitate to take advantage of his long time friendship with Sum, deceiving her money and heart. Ho also plays Ko Family's two daughters, Ko Yee Kiu (Elaine Yiu) and Ko Yee Nga (Katy Kung) in unscrupulous ways. Ho has his own mechanism and plots, which turns him into the biggest love cheater...

A story taking place between Chinese and Burmese borders that follows a four-man team infiltrating enemy territory on a rescue mission. In the summer of 1942, the Japanese launched a barrage of attacks which caused the English and American army to retreat from Burma. Having gained the upper hand, they intend to break through the defence lines at Nujiang in order to invade China. An American plane gets caught in the line of fire and its pilot goes missing. After a US rescue team fails in the mission to save the pilot, the Chinese send Hong Zijie (Li Zonghan), a member of the Communist underground to lead a special team to the rescue.

This show follows Krist & Singto to different places where they try and enjoy different activities.
