The holiday special idol star athletics championships have come back with even hotter celebrities and more fierce competitions! Korea’s multi-talented idols show off their athletic skills and demonstrate what one can achieve with sheer will and endless practices.

Originally called AKB 1ji 59fun!, the show first started airing in January 2008. In March 2008, it was retitled to AKB 0ji 59fun! to emphasise that it had been moved to the 00:59am timeslot. Then, in October 2008 the show was rebranded as AKBINGO!. It aired weekly until 2019, when it was cancelled. However, 3 special episodes called "AKBINGO! NEO" were released in 2021 in collaboration with the AKB48 smartphone game AKB48 no Dobboun! Hitori Jime. In 2022, the show was finally revived as regular show under the new title AKB48 Sayonara Mouri-san. The title references the NTV Producer Mouri Shinobu, who worked on AKBINGO!.
