Mizuki is a marathon runner forced to hang up her running shoes and find a job in the “real world.” She's been laser-focused on running her whole life and developed very little in the way of social skills, totally neglecting any thoughts of a love life. Her love for sweet food is the only thing that brings her joy.

When Mizuki takes a job at a high-end hotel, she turns out to be hopeless at it. With no experience or natural talent for customer service, she makes gaffe after gaffe. One day, she crosses paths with Kaji, a genius pâtissière who works at the hotel and has a reputation as a womanizer. Infuriated at how badly her post-running life is turning out, Mizuki vents at Kaji. Iinstead of angering him, her tirade inspires Kaji, who appoints her as his new taste taster.

In the early 20th century in China, Chan Zan travels to Shanghai with his younger sister in search of a new life after their home village is destroyed by a group of bandits. He notices that Shanghai is divided into an international settlement under the control of various foreign powers, such as Britain and Japan. Chan proves himself to be the best fighter in the gang and wins the favour of the boss Choi Luk-kan.

Zhang Pei, Gou Dan Dan, Dong Jia Xi and Wu Yun are four girls who grew up together.

Zhang Pei is a strict insurance agent, Gou Dan Dan is a brilliant beauty blogger, Dong Jia Xi works at a theater to pursue her dream and Wu Yan was admitted to become a subdistrict civil officer.

They were working towards each of their goals in different cities, but chance and coincidence caused them to reunite again in their hometown. Company development meant Zhang Pei returned to her cowtown to do business there, Gou Dan Dan moved back to give birth, Dong Jia Zi moved back because of her mother's illness, while Wu Yun looked forward to their return amidst her busy work.
