An epidemic of an unknown disease that gives children in Phanom Nakha strange snake-like scales leads Dr. Benedict to research the phenomenon. Asia, a medical illustrator, is chosen to help him with this. Along the way, the two meet Phumkhaobin, a lively but mysterious man and younger brother to Asia's friend Pheka.
