Juken Sentai Gekiranger: Gyun-Gyun! Fist Sage Great Athletic Meet is a DVD special of Juken Sentai Gekiranger given out with the December issue of Terebi Magazine. After their latest win, the three Gekirangers find the Kensei stretching for their annual Kensei Great Athletic Meet. Jan, wanting to win the gold medal and a year's supply of Terebi magazines, joins the Red Team (Sharkie, Bat, Elehung) to go against the White Team (Sha-Fu and the Master Triangle). With Retsu as judge and Ran as moderator, the contest starts with the dunking match, as clips of the training results of Bat Li, Elehung, and Sharkie are shown, ending with the white Team winning by default. In the second match, a horse-riding match, the White Team had the advantage due to the Master Triangle's teamwork, with clips of their training results shown. But due to the banana Gorie dropped prior to the match starting, the Red Team wins. In the tie breaker, a one-on-one Sumo match between Gorie and Sharkie. But neither refuse to lose, using the Double-Double Clone Fist to take their fight outside SCRTC. Sharkie's attacks have no effect until he managed to use Gorie's strength to make the win for the red team. Despite the White Team's losing, Sha-Fu steals the magazines, with the red team and the Gekirangers in pursuit. After Sha-Fu is disciplined, seeing he needs more training himself, the DVD ends with a clip show of the series from Lessons 1 to 35.

When the production could not be completed, the Taiwanese master decided to make all three parts himself. As a result, Hou forced himself to film three different stories in three different ways, so the viewer is treated to an unparalleled display of versatility. The three stories are situated in three different periods. And each time, Shu Qi and Chang Chen play the female and male leads in a tragic love story. The first part, A Time for Love, is closest to Hou's previous work and is set in the 1960s, in his youth. It is a very contained melodrama in which each detail falls into place. The last part, A Time for Youth, is set in today's Taipei. It shows the city as a hotspot, supported by the calming music of Lim Giong. This music and his mood will also be presented live by VJ Sunny Hu at the festival. The middle section, A Time for Freedom, is set furthest in the past and could be described as the tour de force of the three. It is set at the beginning of the 20th century, during the occupation of Taiwan by Japan. It has the style of a silent film from that period. You can say he is conservative and his job at the city government office suits him well. Within the Mapo district lies the Hongdae area famous for the thriving indie rock music scene. Dae-Hee leaves with a co-worker to talk with a band who has received numerous complaints from neighbors about loud noise in a residential neighborhood. The band is practicing for their next album which is coming out in the upcoming days. They are disheartened when Dae-Hee and his co-worker informs them they have to stop playing in their rented basement. During their talk, a man comes by and offers the band to rent his attic room for a generous price. Dae-hee and his co-worker knows something is fishy, but just go about their business. The next day, the band discovers their musical instruments and rent money stolen by the con man who offered to rent his apartment. Meanwhile, they become angry at civil worker Dae-Hee who introduced them to the con man. They go visit Dae-Hee at his office. To avoid a scene in front of his boss, Dae-Hee quickly offers the band his basement for their practice sessions. Dae-Hee seems to have little interest in music or the kids.
