The drama describes the “tofu Xi Shi” Tang Doudou, who is on the way to becoming a spinster. This is because she refuses to marry unless she meets a first-class gentlemen, who understands her and whom she loves (therefore worthy of her true affections). After a misstep with the officials, the Tang clan faces its demise, but fortunately, the Zhuang family reaches out to help. Madame Zhuang wants Doudou to marry her oldest son, who has long been both good-looking, well-principled, and cultured genius – yet on the day of the wedding, he turns into an idiot with the intelligence level of an eight year old! Doudou is furious, and runs home, but without money to pay for her father’s illness, she must meet up with Madame Zhuang again. Her oldest son is still lovesick for Doudou, and his mother works out a one-year agreement with Doudou. The story is about popular stars and celebrity’s managers working in the Thai entertainment industry.

After the huge success of the 1995 hit drama Vampire Expert, ATV splashed more money on the sequel the following year. Reprising his fan-favorite role of Taoist exorcist Mo Siu Fong, Lam Ching Ying returned to lead a star-studded cast that includes Kiki Sheung, Frankie Lam, Mang Hoi, Eric Wan, Kristy Yang, Ching Tung, Berg Ng, Lo Lieh, and child star Cheng Pak Lam. The series also counts blockbuster director Benny Chan (Connected) among the crew. ATV originally planned for a third series, but Lam unfortunately passed away in 1997 and the plan did not materialize. That also signaled the end of an era, as the station went on to produce the sister series My Date with a Vampire featuring modern, Westernized bloodsuckers. In Vampire Expert II, the ghost busting Taoist priest Mo Siu Fong (Lam Ching Ying) has two new disciples in Siu Hoi (Mang Hoi) and Yuk Tak Chor (Frankie Lam). One day, a clumsy cat burglar with the cool moniker "Black Rose" (Kiki Sheung) unwittingly resurrects an army of vampires as a result of her stealing treasures kept in Cixi's tomb!
