A naked handsome man drifts ashore on the coast of a certain region. Three high school girls who happened to discover this man, post a video of him on social media. The hashtag #handsomenakeddrifter starts trending and he suddenly becomes the man of the moment. He is called Hemingway because he had muttered the words “Winner Take Nothing”, which is the name of one of Ernest Hemingway’s collection of short works, when he was found. At the hospital that he was rushed to for emergency treatment, Hemingway is diagnosed with near drowning from swimming a considerable distance as well as possible memory loss. The only clue to his identity is a tattoo that he sports on his left ankle. Meanwhile, a girl goes missing in the prefecture. Her disappearance is suspected to be connected to the serial murders of five girls in the past six months. As detectives Shibata Toshiya and Noma Kenta from the prefectural police and journalist Shintani Emi pursue this latest case, the girl is finally found. It turns out that the place where she was discovered is remarkably similar to the scenery that Hemingway had drawn. When this drawing is also posted on social media, people wonder if he has a prophetic ability. Emi hopes to interview him while Shibata suspects his involvement in the case. As Hemingway helps resolve a series of inexplicable incidents that happen around him, people start to fanatically believe in his divine power and worship him little by little. Despite the wild enthusiasm of the people, Hemingway himself remains consistent from beginning to end. People are the ones who pounce on his words, read his expressions and try to infer his identity. Who is Hemingway and what is the truth regarding the series of incidents?

Pojaman is sent to live in Ban Sai Thong upon her deceased father's wishes. There she instantly feels unwelcomed by its residence, her second cousins the Sawangwongs. Her aunt Phanarai and her youngest daughter Ying Lek hate Pojaman, while the eldest daughter Ying Yai is cold to her. However, she immediately bonds with the youngest son Chai Noi, who is crippled and his nanny. There at the Ban Sai Thong, Pojaman is not looked upon as a relative and is ordered to work like a servant. She is sad and homesick but bears the treatment because it is her father's wishes that she finishes her education.

One day while wondering around the grounds of Ban Sai Thong, Pojaman is frightened by an elderly servant, whom she thinks is a ghost. While running for her life, she trips and is caught by Chai Klang. His nick name "Chai Klang" means middle man/guy in Thai referring to the fact that he is the middle brother. Although Chai Klang is a stern person who doesn't show many emotions, he immediately empathizes for Pojaman and fights to get her the respect worthy of a relative. He makes himself her guardian and seeks to teach her qualities of perseverance and patience. Though it's not in the will, he also knows that Ban Sai Thong belongs to Pojaman's family after his grandfather dies.

Because of the care and attention Chai Klang gives to Pojaman, his mom and Ying Lek grow to hate her even more. Naturally, their guardian/child and brother/sister relationship grows into love. They get married, but Pojaman is not certain that Chai Klang married her for love because he never told her he loves her. So how will Pojaman and Chai Klang overcome their obstacle of having his mom and sister accept her as his wife and did Chai Klang marry her because of love or was it because of Ban Sai Thong?

On December 25, it is Shuko Yoshioka's (Kazue Fukiishi) 34th birthday. She has a good time with her husband Kenichi (Munetaka Aoki), her first child Ai (Konomi Watanabe) and her second child Yu (Hinata Igarashi), but Kenichi notices something different about Shuko. He asks her if something is wrong. She tells him that she might have breast cancer. She also says that she already received a test, but is waiting for the results. Shuko goes to the hospital to find out the results of her test. She hears from the doctor that she has terminal breast cancer and surgery is not an option. That night, her husband tries to comfort her. Meanwhile, Kenichi receives the results of a check-up he received a couple of days ago. He notices that it says "needs reexamination." Kenichi goes in for a reexamination and is diagnosed with lung cancer. Like his wife, he is told surgery is not an option. Kenichi, attempting to protect Shuko, does not tell anyone about his test results.

Nishimura Toshiro works at a production company as a drama director. He has been having a hectic time, discussing the script for an ongoing drama with the female producer who is not satisfied with it. The proud and elitist Toshiro intends to make interesting works. But he does not realise that his mindset is elitist and old-fashioned, and that he tends to be chauvinistic. His life has gone smoothly so far and he believes he has everything. Toshiro proposes to his 29-year-old girlfriend, Kondo Akiko, whom he has been dating for three years. Well, from his perspective, he proposed because he feels responsible for her. Akiko is a modest-looking woman who has been supporting the busy Toshiro, doing the housework and cooking perfectly. But the day after his proposal, Akiko leaves the engagement ring behind and vanishes all of a sudden. Why did she leave him and why did she hide her identity during the time they spent together? Toshiro tries to search for Akiko but realises that he does not have any information that would provide clues. Meanwhile, Akiko resigns from her job at the place where she had told Toshiro that she worked and goes to work for the company that her mother runs. Toshiro gathers information on Akiko from Instagram and in the process of following her traces, his true nature along with the truth about her are revealed.
