On a winter morning on the way to work, Ki Young finds Gil Ho sleeping on the wooden bench in front of his house. Gil Ho is a teenager who has run away from home because he can no longer face the domestic violence he suffers there. Ki Young, who seems tough but has a tender heart, lets Gil Ho stay in his house for a few days and Gil Ho comes to trust Ki Young. It seems that Ki Young must have recognized his own dark past in Gil Ho. However, as Gil Ho′s friends visit, conflicts happen between Ki Young and Gil Ho.

A man who travels in the past has met a woman who travels the present at Khaosan Road, in Bangkok, Thailand and becomes a porter of her and leaves the road together.

A corrupted customs officer, Choi Ik-hyeon, faces losing his job. Then, his life turns around as he meets ganster Choi Hyeong-bae who has connection with the Yakuza. They quickly form a partnetship; Hyeong-bae helps Ik-hyeon set up a business with the money from drug trafficking while Ik-hyeon lobbies for his partner Hyeong-bae. As the government declares war on crime, however, their partnership begins to crack.

The film is set on Hashima Island, off the coast of Nagasaki, in an abandoned mining facility that is now filled with darkened, half decrepit apartment blocks and mine shafts.
