    Kyonosuke Kawamura is the successor to the prestigious Kishima family. He performs as a kabuki stage actor. One day, as he is leaving the theater, Kyonosuke Kawamura hears cheers from girls who are waiting for him. There, Ayame Chiba, who also attends the same high school, approaches him and shouts out "that is not Kagamijishi and I want my money back!"

    Due to excessive expectation as the successor of the Kishima family, Kyonosuke becomes sick and tired of kabuki. He plays with best friend Haruhiko Sakamoto and female fans until late into the night. When he arrives back home, his father Yozaemon, who is a master in kabuki, scolds him. An argument ensues. Yozaemon has never acknowledged Kyonosuke's efforts. That is a big reason why Kyonosuke has become estranged from kabuki. He also can't forgive his father for always placing kabuki as his first priority. His father did not show up when his mother became gravely ill and died.

    Kyonosuke then meets Ayame at school. She again complains about his performance. Kyonosuke also learns that Ayame has a favorite actor. He's embarrassed by her complaints. For his next performance, Kyonosuke shows up practice, but he is chewed out by his instructor Matsukichi. Others, including Shohei Sawayama, watch this and make fun of Kyonosuke behind his back. Kyonosuke also hears from his rival Ichiya Sawayama that he was shocked at his performance. Kyonosuke feels numb.

    Shomuni 2013 sees a total change in the members of Shomuni, with the exception of Esumi Makiko who will reprise her role of the feisty Tsuboi Chinatsu. It has been 10 years since Shomuni had been dissolved in Manpan Corporation, and the department members have all gone on into retirement. Tsuboi Chinatsu's whereabouts is known to nobody. Due to the long economic downturn suffered by Japanese companies, restructuring is a common occurrence nowadays. Manpan is no different from the rest. Maruyama Shiori is an Olympic gold-medal hopeful in the pole vault event. Manpan had recruited as part of their PR advertising, but due to severe costs-cutting measures, the track and field club in Manpan was dissolved, and Shiori is deemed to have no value to the company anymore. In order to make Shiori, who doesn't even have the skills to be a telephone operator, leave on her own accord, the company started tweeting bad things about her. Poor Shiori is now an outcast in the company and no one totally dares to be seen with her at all. No one, except for the team of OL, made up of Minami Madoka, Abe Reiko, Kojima Masuko and Fukuda Masuyo, who appear before her one by one. One day, Shiori comes across a lady who seemed to be running away from someone. The next day, she sees the same lady again at the company. The lady is none other than the legendary Tsuboi Chinatsu!     Rong Jinxiu (Chen Qiao’en) arrives in Shanghai in search of her half-sister, Yin Mingzhu (Lv Jiarong). Jinxiu’s family has fallen on hard times and is hoping for any sort of assistance from Mingzhu. However, Mingzhu, who is now the lover of a well-known businessman, still harbors hatred for the Rong family because they abandoned Mingzhu and her sickly mother many years before.

    Mingzhu is willing to meet with Jinxiu once but does not offer any help. On her way out of Mingzhu’s luxurious house, Jinxiu literally bumps into Xiang Yingdong (Kimi Qiao), who has a crush on Mingzhu despite her being the woman of his older brother. With Yingdong is Zuo Zhen (Huang Xiaoming).

    Unable to find food or lodging, Jinxiu wastes away on the streets of Shanghai and is discovered by Zuo Zhen and one of his followers, Shi Hao (Yang Le). They bring her to a high-end hotel owned by Yingdong. Thinking that she was rescued by Yingdong, Jinxiu develops a crush on him, which she confesses to Zuo Zhen.
