Sokoi Takehachi and Tsumura Aki are journalists working for the "Weekly Dodongo". Their editor, Yamazaki Jiro, had assigned them to stake out former state assemblyman Okase Shohei, who is about to be released from prison. 7 years ago, Okase was found guilty of misappropriating state funds amounting to 100 mil yen. However, only 70 mil yen were accounted for during the trial. Yamazaki has a hunch that upon his release, Okase will be retrieving that money from wherever he had hidden it. Both Takehachi and Aki had tailed Okase to the racecourse, and from there to a street near Kagurazaka, Tokyo, where they lost him. Next thing they know, the news world is abuzz with the rumor that Okase had found the body of a strangled man at a cemetery in Katsuura, Chiba. Yamazaki's instinct tells him that the murder has something to do with the unaccounted for money, and so he decides to bring Takehachi along with him to call on Okase. They pay a visit to the Nishida Stables, where they are introduced to the stable hand, Suekichi Hideo, the stable owner, Nishida Ryuzo and one of the racehorse's owner, state assemblyman Tateyama Torahei. Yamazaki decides against bringing up the matter of Okase, which puzzles Takehachi, but yet Yamazaki does not share his reason for doing so with him. Not long after, a trunk is found in the forests of Mizusawa, Iwate. In it is a corpse of a man. How is the corpse related to Okase? Why was it stuffed inside the trunk?

In Shang Hai during 1930, Zhou Jin finds out about her family history and discovers that her father passed away 10 years ago mysteriously. Mushk (Yumna Zaidi) belongs to a conservative family and obeys her father Iftikhar Ali (Tanveer Jamal). She follows the principles set by her father until she meets Sehba (Komal Aziz Khan). Sehba, who likes modern lifestyle, influences Mushk and they become friends. Sehba has a childhood friend named Nomi (Danial Afzal Khan). Nomi is a bad person who is involved with drugs, smoking and gambling. He was friends with Irtiza but they stopped. Sehba really likes Nomi but Nomi doesn't take it seriously. As Sehba starts to develop a liking for Irtiza (Shehzad Sheikh), she gets jealous when she discovers Mushk and Irtiza's newfound relationship. Hatching vicious plans, Sehba makes Mushk's life difficult and she loses her family and her lover's trust. One day, Nomi and Sehba make a plan to trap Mushk in Nomi's house right before her wedding with Irtiza. Sehba, Under the Fake love of friendship, Picks up Mushk from the Salon she was getting her hair and makeup done in, and peer pressures her in going to a party, where she drugs mushk and locks her in nomis room. Sehba leaves the house while Nomi in a drunken state tries to enter the room Mushk is in. Police raids and arrests everyone in the house. Mushk hides in a cupboard and manages to escape Nomi's house. Meanwhile, Irtiza and Mushk's family are searching for her. Seeing Mushk in a disheveled state, everyone believes the worst of her. Irtiza and his family call off their engagement and Mushk is stood up on her wedding. Then enters Ismael whom Mushk's father asks to marry his daughter and finally Mushk while waiting for Irtiza to show up becomes a reluctant bride of Ismael. Iftikhar Sahib dies of a heart attack sometime later. Ismael and Mushk are living like strangers under one roof with no love in their relationship yet. Sehba succeeds in her attempts to make Irtiza misunderstand Mushk and he decides to marry her as per the wish of both of their families. To spite Mushk, Sehba visits her home to give her the wedding invitation which Mushk decides to attend with Ismael. On the wedding day, Nomi discloses Sehba's shameful secret and conspiracy clearing Mushk's name and leaving Irtiza in agony over losing a pure girl like Mushk. Sehba murders Nomi and ends in hospital with injuries then passes away a few days later after asking forgiveness from Mushk. Mushk chooses to be with Ismael after witnessing his goodness, kind nature and loving attitude. Irtiza is left heartbroken with Mushk forgiving him but refusing to be with him for a second time. Mushk and Ismael live in love and harmony.

The series starts with the murder of a 10-year-old girl in 1984. 15 years later, after the case goes unsolved and passes the statute of limitations, a doctor named Goda Ryoji suddenly quits from his hospital and eventually becomes a detective. In 2008, he meets Sachi, a traveling artist in Paris, and shortly after Goda's return to Japan, he becomes involved in the expired murder case when another detective receives an anonymous phone call.

This drama depicts the sorrows, hardships, relationships and ambitions of doctors at a General Hospital, particularly the senior resident 'Venomous Snake' Park Jin Won, playboy Park Hyun Joon and nurse Kim So Yi.

Shin Se Kyung and Shin Shin Ae (Seo Shin Ae) are a pair of sisters who came to work as maids in Foodstuff company President Lee Sun Jae's house after their debt-ridden father Shin Dal Ho (Jung Seok Yong) runs away leaving them to fend for themselves. Living together with President Lee is his daughter Lee Hyun Kyung, son-in-law Jung Bo Suk, doctor-to-be son Lee Ji Hun, grandson Jung Jun Hyuk who is a high school student and grand-daughter Jung Hae Ri' Jun Hyuk's school deen, Kim Ja Ok, is in love with President Lee who is widowed.

Former yakuza Haruo is finally released from prison after completing his sentence. With nine years worth of prison gratuities in hand, he stops at a restaurant to enjoy a good meal, but all of his money ends up being stolen. With nothing left, he spends the night at a net cafe, and he manages to look up his old friend from his yakuza days. When Haruo visits the next day, he learns that his old girlfriend Mariko was living with another man, but later died of illness. Haruo, who had committed murder 9 years earlier to earn the money for Mariko's medical treatment, is shocked and angered. He decides to track down that other man, who runs a bakery with his wife and daughter Sachi. Haruo later runs into Sachi at the park, but he has yet to find out the truth about her.

The second season is set in even more turbulent times than the first; during the reign of Emperor Gojong, a period where every aspect of Joseon, from financial, military, and economic to the culture was spurred towards modernization. The chaos and confusion resulting from these rapid changes form the background for the crimes that occur, forcing the Byul Soon Geom to be reformed in order to investigate them. The team is led by Jin Moo Young and Han Da Kyung, two people with deep scars and burdens from their past.
