Forced out of his research group after conflicts with his colleagues, Ogawa Takanobu takes up an offer to teach at a girls' high school in Nara. When taking roll call on the first day one of his students, Hotta Ito, sneaks into class late, claiming a bogus excuse - that she got a ticket after trying to park her deer in front of the train station. He makes immediate enemies with Hotta when he tells his superiors about her tardiness and attitude. In the following days, he begins to notice something unusual about Hotta, but he can't seem to put his finger on it.

With an odd group of colleagues who live together with him, Ogawa slowly accustoms to life in slow-paced Nara, where there seem to be as many deer as people. Walking through Nara Park one day, he begins to befriend the local deer population, feeding them rice wafers. After being confronted by a talking deer who commandeers him to prevent the destruction of Japan, he fails in his first mission and the talking deer exacts punishment--looking into the mirror the next day, he discovers he has turned into a deer from the shoulders up. Ogawa slowly begins to piece the puzzle together: the talking deer, the mysterious student, and a recent series of earthquakes that could spell doom for Japan...

Xie Zheng Jie is a senior at Taipei Municipal Li Ren Junior High School. He has to take the national senior high school entrance exams in the near future. One day, a school inspector from Taipei Education Bureau abruptly goes to Li Ren and tells them that there is a report on Mr. Zhan, a math teacher in Li Ren Junior High, who uses the music class period to give students math exams. After hearing receiving this news, Mr. Zhan is very angry. Later, he finds out that those letters were sent by Shen Wei, a student in his class. Hence, Sheng Wei is forced to transfer to another class. After Jay refuses to participate in Mr. Zhan's cram school after school, he is forced by Mr. Zhan to move his desk to the hallway outside and participate in the class from the hallway all day long because he reads comic books during class. Mr. Zhan calls to Jay's mother, wanting her to come to school and deal with the problem, but he humiliates Jay's mother in front of Jay. Jay loses his temper and shoves Mr. Zhan which causes a small physical altercation between the two. The school gives Jay a harsh warning, which is comparable to a three-strikes-your-out type of punishment. Jay and his mother disagree on the warning and this leads to a conflict between Jay's family and the school. At the same time, Jay's parents face the problem of divorce. Jay is also given the elbow by other students. All of these consecutive incidents cause Jay to think of the real meaning in the daily routine-taking tests, going to cram school, studying hard, and what he really needs in his future life

A three-part epic tells of the rise, fall, and rebirth of the great civilization Dunhuang through the act of hiding treasures, hunting for treasures, and protecting treasures during three key periods in the Chinese history: The Northern Song Dynasty, the end of Qing Dynasty, and finally, the Republic. Final Chapter: Republic A year before the outbreak of World War II and Japanese invasion, Liang Mu Tian and his wife, Su Qing Ping, came to Dunhuang in search of artistic inspirations. To their horror, the once majestic city had turned into a sad ruin left behind by a century of grave robbing. These two artists became ardent Dunhuang advocates. They roused the local people to protect and rebuild their ancient city.
