We all experience birth, old age, sickness, and death. Yet have you ever wondered who determines the time of our death? Respected pharmaceutical doctor Kong Tung Kin starts up his own clinic after a drug trial incident. One day, he is approached by Toi Fung, who claims to be Satan, for a patient’s life. Refusing to do so, he suggests handing over his own. His reaction takes Fung by surprise. With a view to getting to know more about human beings, Fung interferes with Kin’s life, including his family and career. In addition, he runs after Fong Siu Fong, a nurse Kin has been secretly in love with. Later, Kin sells his soul to Fung for money and fame. As time goes by, he starts to become a totally different person, losing his kindness without himself knowing it.

Similar to many upper class during that era, Cheuk Man has many wives and mistresses, a symbol of his status. His first wife Koo Sum Lan (Mary Hon) was born from a wealthy family. His second wife, Aisin Gioro Yee Yin (Idy Chan) is an former princess from the Qing dynasty. His third wife, Yvonne Yik (Elena Kong) came from a rich banker family. Peking opera singer Hong Tsz Kwan (Tavia Yeung) is the fourth wife. The fifth woman in Cheuk Man’s life is Chiu Dan Dan (JJ Jia, who was only interested in living a luxurious and materialistic lifestyle.

Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido is the northernmost zoo in Japan. It was once in danger of being shut down but overcame this crisis. The leader of the zookeepers, Sakauchi Zen (Yamaguchi Tomomitsu), has become the zoo’s director. He works hard towards the construction of a new giraffe enclosure. On the other hand, the zookeepers Izumi Sawako (Toda Erika) and Nakagawa Shinichi (Koide Keisuke) privately have worries while being swamped with their job of raising animals. Sawako, who is in charge of the popular red pandas, sees signs of a pregnancy, but cannot feel genuinely happy. Having been present at the deaths of animals countless times in the past, she has developed a fear of witnessing the life and death of animals. Nakagawa, who has been appointed the leader of the breeding staff, even has strong ideas about the current state of the zoo. A part of him cannot agree with Sakauchi on the construction of the giraffe enclosure too. Veteran zookeeper, Makihara Yuichiro (Ito Shiro), who has known the zoo since the time it opened, cannot make up his mind about his own retirement. To compound matters, a flamingo escapes from the zoo. Sakauchi sets a trap which makes use of the flamingo’s behaviour, but the flamingo is killed by a wild fox. Nakagawa opposes Sakauchi’s decision which sacrificed an animal. Confidence in the zoo also plummets. Meanwhile, Okamura Tetsu (Joshima Shigeru), who has been an elementary school janitor for many years, comes as a zookeeper in a personnel reshuffle. Poor with both people and animals, Okamura is given the task to rear the zoo’s oldest animal, the hippopotamus, by Sakauchi. Okamura is uncomfortable with a job which does not have a manual. However, he takes Makihara’s advice and gradually becomes concerned about the hippopotamus more than anyone else. The new enclosure is completed. A young hippopotamus also arrives. These appear to be positive signs for the zoo. Then one day, a terrible sight unfolds before Okamura

He also is entangled between five women in his life, and this is highlighted in the series. The five women are Menggu, Naqiya, Dongge, Abahai, and Tunggiya Qingya. Dongge is a renowned beauty from the plains and loves both Nurhaci and his brother Surhaci. Tunggiya Qingya is Nurhaci's primary consort and the mother of Cuyen and Daisan. Menggu is the mother of Hong Taiji and a beautiful woman with a mysterious past. Abahai was his favorite during his later years and the mother of Dodo, Dorgon, and Ajige. Naqiya was the former wife of Li Rubai, but Nurhaci later wed Naqiya to Surhaci.

A young man who showed little promise while a high school student becomes a master detective, just like his grandfather. Tv series based on a serialized Japanese mystery manga (written by Yōzaburō Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Satō). The story revolves around Take Seiji, who quits his job after three months. With no dreams, no savings, and a poor relationship with his family, he becomes a hikikomori.
