Lee Hong Jo is the lowest grade civil servant. She always does her best at work, even though she suffers from many civil complaints. In her personal life, she is used to being alone. One day, she happens to become the owner of an old wooden chest and the key to lift a curse from Jang Shin Yu.

Wan Shi Cheng is a self-made man who started out as a street vendor. After 40 years of hard work, he has succeeded in establishing the biggest restaurant in the city. However, his family is on the brink of collapse. His eldest daughter Wan Jia Ling has been living with the passing of her son three years ago. Since then, she has learned to endure the abuse of her mother-in-law and the neglect of her husband Song Qiao Zhi. Wan Shi Cheng's eldest daughter-in-law Zheng Qing Tian has devoted everything to her family and the restaurant, yet her sacrifices are met with her own husband's betrayal. His youngest daughter Wan Jia Ni who is against the idea of marriage becomes pregnant after a one-night-stand with a second-generation rich. This historical drama talk about the life of Im Kkeok Jung who was from the low class and he was the leader of a group of gang, people from the same class that wish to live a decent life.

It tells the story of underground party member Li San Qiang who works his way to become the governor of the Wuze county and uses his courage and wits to defend his homeland during the Anti-Japanese War.
