Back in her high school days Jeon Seol-Hee (Kim Jung-Eun) was the singer for a legendary rock group, but to support her younger sister's education she started to work as a clerk at a top Korean law firm. While working there she met a bright lawyer named Cha Ji-Wook (Kim Seung-Su) and eventually married. Seol-Hee then became the daughter-in-law for an ultra wealthy family, but Seol-Hee soon learns that all that glitters isn't gold. At social functions Seol-Hee's husband instructs her to not speak and just nod in agreement with the others. Her mother-in-law (Cha Hwa-Yeon) is incredibly insensitive to Seol-Hee as a person. What pushes Seol-Hee to the edge is when Seol-Hee's younger sister, who is now a doctor, is hospitalized with cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant from Seol-Hee. Seol-Hee's mother-in-law opposes Seol-Hee doing the medical procedure because it will interfere with Seol-Hee's visits to a fertility clinic. Seol-Hee's husband offers no support whatsoever. It tells the story of a brave and good girl who is the daughter of a general and a young emperor who lies between a hammer and anvil. They fight with each other, falling in love with each other gradually after overcoming many difficulties. Together, they have a sweet love story as they work for the country and the people and move forward.

Set in 1930s Shanghai, Cheng Yi Zhi who comes from a poor family meets Wu Ru Fu, a banker and his daughter Li Zi. Inspired by Wu, Cheng Yi Zhi quits his job as a businessman and enters the finance industry; and becomes bank owner Boss Huang's closest confidante. However, he finds out that Boss Huang caused the death of Wu Ru Fu, and also colluded with various forces to build a black money empire. Meanwhile, Izumi Miyamura is seen as a brooding, glasses-wearing otaku. However, in reality, he is a gentle person inept at studying. Furthermore, he has nine piercings hidden behind his long hair and a tattoo along his back and left shoulder.

By sheer chance, Hori and Miyamura cross paths outside of school—neither looking as the other expects. These seemingly polar opposites become friends, sharing with each other a side they have never shown to anyone else.

When Ozu’s older sister and her husband suddenly pass away after an accident, 32 year-old Ozu temporarily moves to Fukushima from Tokyo, in order to look after his 12 year-old niece Mei during the summer vacation. He has a modern way of thinking but is lethargic about everything in his daily life. In Fukushima he meets the local residents who have been living positively with the aim of recovering from the Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as the immigrants who have come from outside of the prefecture in order to realize their aspirations.

As he resides alongside his artistic niece, their bond starts to deepen, and through his interactions with Mei and the many residents of Fukushima, he starts to change and grow as a person.
