Onizuka Ichiro has been confined to a wheelchair ever since he was stabbed by a criminal and lost the function of his two legs. After retirement, he was reappointed by Shinjuku Higashi Police Precinct’s Criminal Affairs Division to head its Judicial Section because of the numerous cases he had solved. One day, a dead man is found in Shinjuku Botanical Garden and identified to be Matsumoto Yugo. The name is familiar to Onizuka who does a search on his computer and realises that Matsumoto had filed a report on the theft of his bicycle a month earlier. Together with his subordinate Toyama Saki, and Jin Keitaro, who was sent from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division to be a detective at the precinct, Onizuka begins to investigate the case. However, the new police chief Azuma Kanata is not pleased that their section is getting involved and has a confrontation with Keitaro over the investigation strategy.

When a mysterious ancient city of more than 1000 years is discovered, the archaeologists start excavations, unknowingly unleashing a ghost from the past who wants to get revenge.

Li Hui Zhen used to be gorgeous, but years of declining family fortune added much pain to her life, and her looks slowly drifted away. Slowly, even without knowing her true identity, Bai Hao Yu becomes attracted to Li Hui Zhen. Li Hui Zhen's supervisor Lin Yi Mu also starts to take an interest in his new intern. Can Li Hui Zhen break away from the insecurity that came from once being pretty and open up to the man she truly cares about, or will she forever live in fear because she thinks she once was pretty?

The story is based on the life of fashion designer Koshino Ayako, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 92. Although she was a successful designer in Japan, she also single-handedly raised three daughters who followed in her footsteps to become internationally known designers, named Hiroko, Junko, and Michiko. Ono's character in the drama, modeled after Koshino, is named Ohara Itoko. She will play the character from her teenage years to her fifties. The story is set in the Kansai region, but Ono will have no problem with the dialect since she is originally from Nara.

Shogo Kai is a partner at a law firm in Marunouchi, Tokyo. He brings back Daiki Suzuki to his law firm from Boston. Shogo Kai then assigns Daiki Suzuki to a case. The case involves a large publishing company as they are sued by a former contract worker. The former contract worker insists her idea for a novel was stolen by the publishing company.

Best Partner focuses on the life of Japan's corporate 30-somethings and the rivalry for success that encompasses their lives. Unbeknownst to each other, Suzuki Ichiro and Suzuki Ichiro both work for the same publishing firm in Tokyo. The only difference in their names is two strokes in the kanji character of their first names. Ichiro #1 marries his coworker, Hayama Asuka. Ichiro #2, who is Asuka's superior, attends the wedding reception and the two Ichiros meet for the very first time. But seeing how close his new wife and her superior seem to be, Ichiro #1 begins to feel anxious about the future

After losing his two wives, Sung Chee (Bobby Au Yeung) somehow winds up in a new town. Back in his hometown, Sung Chee was a well-known forensics officer that had solved many cases. He soon meets Yuen Yuk Chu (Charmaine Sheh) and is employed to work in her mother's shop to pay off his debt. Sung Chee's real identity soon emerges and he is back to discovering how murder victims came to meet death, with the help of his new acquaintances. Chow Chi Lung (Stephen Au) convinces Sung Chee to take him under his wing and later becomes his apprentice. A mutual love develops between Yuen Yuk Chu and Sung Chee, but he denies his love for her believing his fate is to be alone.
