Rushing along the road every day with a vibrant mix of passengers of all kinds, what taxi drivers see and hear is far more varied than one can ever imagine. Retired taxi driver HO KAU (Kent Cheng) returns to the job after his son HO KA-PO (Raymond Wong) is convicted of causing death by dangerous driving. The incident has exacerbated the already fractious relationship between the father and the son. PO works for KAU after his release from prison. Before long, he has another serious road accident, in which KAU is also involved and severely injured, both mentally and physically. PO feels so guilty towards his father and comes to understand the importance of careful driving. He maintains a high degree of vigilance while driving but still gets picked on constantly by female traffic police officer KO LAI-SAM (Kate Tsui). As time goes by, the pair have gradually developed a strong attachment to each other and finally become lovers. But PO's ex-girlfriend CHEUNG HIU-MAN (Sonija Kwok) and SAM's grandmother KO LI SHUK-CHING (Lee Heung Kam) turn out to be the biggest obstacle to their relationship, leaving the pair stranded in dismay along the tunnel of love.

Snagging a new job at Heart Sports' sales department, Kanji transfers to the Tokyo office, where he meets his new colleague Rika and is reunited with his best friends from home—Mikami and Satomi. Mikami, Kanji, and Satomi have been friends since they were children, having grown up in the same small town. Mikami is Kanji's best male friend and Satomi is their platonic female friend whom both Mikami and Kanji have had a crush on since high school. After seeing Mikami forcedly kissing Satomi, Kanji felt despair, however, then quickly developed strong affection for Rika who was always energetic, funny, encouraging and caring. Their relationship was rather unstable to begin with, given Kanji's history with Satomi as well as Rika's (not so) secret affair with her and Kanji's boss Sendo [this affair was much more of a determinant in the original manga than in the drama, when Rika got pregnant bearing Sendo's child (not shown in the drama version), which was one of the reasons why Kanji chose Satomi over Rika]. In the meantime, denied by Satomi who thought Mikami was just playing with her, Mikami's attempts on pursuing his med school classmate Nagasaki had also been with much frustration.

Shida Mirai, the young actress of Jyoou no Kyoushitsu fame, plays an average junior high school student who becomes pregnant with her lover's child. The drama will show her gradually maturing as the circumstances around her change.

Former yakuza Haruo is finally released from prison after completing his sentence. With nine years worth of prison gratuities in hand, he stops at a restaurant to enjoy a good meal, but all of his money ends up being stolen. With nothing left, he spends the night at a net cafe, and he manages to look up his old friend from his yakuza days. When Haruo visits the next day, he learns that his old girlfriend Mariko was living with another man, but later died of illness. Haruo, who had committed murder 9 years earlier to earn the money for Mariko's medical treatment, is shocked and angered. He decides to track down that other man, who runs a bakery with his wife and daughter Sachi. Haruo later runs into Sachi at the park, but he has yet to find out the truth about her.
