Separated at birth and brought up by rivalling masters, twins Hua Wu Que and Xiao Yu Er reunite 18 years later to collaborate and combine forces so as to nullify a conspiracy to take over the martial arts world. This attempt by movie director Wong Jing to turn renowned novelist Gu Long’s classic martial arts novel into a TV series stars Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse as the legendary twin brothers Xiao Yu Er and Hua Wu Que respectively.

It's about a younger twin sister being asked to 'temporarily' exchange their identity for the elder twin in the marriage to a rich guy due to some very serious allergic reaction on her face that she needed some time and cosmetic surgery to heal it. She didn't want to miss the chance to marry a rich guy so she had to ask a favour from her estranged younger twin sister, in return she agreed to take care of their sick mother who is in coma while they exchange their identities.

Qian Qian from then on lives under the name Nie Wu Shuang and enters the palace of the Liang Kingdom. A love triangle between Wu Shuang and the Xiao brothers ensues. But behind Wu Shuang’s necklace lies a huge secret: twenty years ago, a fairy came down to earth after war on the Phoenix Star broke out and she was pursued. There she saw a little girl, Qian Qian, who was about to drown. She then gave her the “Heavenly Tear”, a stone with a huge power: whoever owns it will be able to unify the country. A demon who’s half-human half-machine and hides in the Qi Kingdom is after the stone.
