"Behind Cut" tells the story of two men working towards their dreams together. The story revolves around Ki Jin, a design student with aspirations to become a world-famous designer, and Yeong Woo, who works part-time as a delivery man with a bright personality, and their struggles of work and love. Korea's top model Lee Bin comes into the picture and is expected to give the story a heart aching love triangle.

A collapsed woman, wearing white clothes, is found at a park in the early morning hours. The woman introduces herself Byakuya. Except her name, she doesn't remember anything else about herself. She doesn't know general stuff either, but she holds extensive medical knowledge and has a genius like diagnostic ability. With just the smallest amount of information, she is able to diagnose any disease. She begins to work with a diagnosis team at a hospital.

Because of her emotional issue, therapist Yao Zi Han is forced to take leave after her patient committed suicide. She came to an island called Zihuatanejo where she met guesthouse owner Meng Qian, a former hypnotist who was boycotted by the psychology field. As well as, other islanders who are lost in their own problems.

When an ancient treasure map surfaces within the royal court, x marks a deadly spot for the most powerful members of the Qing Dynasty. Amidst a string of disappearances from ministers to generals, Princess Ciadie (Ady An) and Prince Batu (Steven Jiang) discover they possess the unlikely skills and knowledge necessary to uncover double-crossing courtiers who will stop at nothing for a mysterious treasure.

Two individuals with different background got kidnapped together. In the process, one of them lost 24 hours of memory which led to eventful stories.

Ryosei Konishi, Mika Hijii, Ray Fujita, Yasue Sato, Hironobu Kageyama, and Yukijirō Hotaru reprise their roles from the original television series. Shouma Yamamoto reprises his role from the Beast of the Midnight Sun special. Mary Matsuyama and Masahiro Kuranuki reprise their roles from the Red Requiem film. Newcomers to the series include Ozuno Nakamura and Yuriko Hishimi.

Kakei Shiro is a 45-year-old attorney who works for a small law firm and lives with his lover, Yabuki Kenji, a hairdresser.

Kakei Shiro's regular routine is that after work, he buys groceries at a mart, which has discounted prices and does not go over a certain budget. Afterwards, he goes home and makes dinner, which usually includes rice, soup and three side dishes. When dinner is about ready, Yabuki Kenji comes home from work. While they eat, the two men talk about pretty much everything.

One day, when Kakei Shiro and Yabuki Kenji are out in public, Kenji's customer comes up to them and asks, "Is he your boyfriend who is a lawyer?" Kakei Shiro is embarrassed. Unlike Kenji, who is open about his sexual orientation, Shiro does not tell people at his law firm that he is gay.

The series is full of love, friendship, humor, everyday worries and the crumbs of life. Everything in the background is accompanied by delicious Japanese dishes and recipes for their preparation.
