Kim Ho Jin will play Heo Myung Pil, an elite newspaper reporter but an immature and irresponsible husband. Kang Sung Yun will play Gyung Gook Hee, a bright and valiant wife. Along with the two, Kim Tae Yeon will play Lim Tae Ran who is a successful scenario writer who possesses both fortune and fame, she is considered an ideal female figure in today's society, and Kim Nam Jin will play the college student, Seok Doo, who receives the love of many wives.

Spanning from 1925 to 1949, the series focuses on three children of a big family in Liling county, Hunan province and their search for a political path in the chaos of 20th century China. Their life is set against a number of significant historic events, such as First United Front, Second United Front, the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–45), Chinese Civil War and the foundation of the People's Republic of China.

Law Lik-ah (Kevin Cheng), a resident of Sham Shui Po, together with his cousin George Mike, Jr (Alex Lam) runs a legal clinic for the community in the social service centre. Hi friend Tin Ka-fu (Sam Lee), is an active social worker who neglects his parents when he is doing social work. Law is a talented former barrister who fights injustice for the people of the Sham Shui Po district in Hong Kong. He encounters Kris (Myolie Wu) who is an upcoming lawyer. However, Kris finds these encounters less pleasant and finds Law uncouth and unkempt. As the story progresses, Kris realises that Law is her idol and eventually falls for him.

Pyar Ke Sadqay is the story of Abdullah (Bilal Abbas) and Mahjabeen(Yumna Zaidi) who are social misfits. Mahjabeen’s character is that of an ingénue. Mahjabeen is a naïve, quirky, clumsy, carefree, overtalkative, and mischievous young woman who has failed the tenth-grade multiple times. She is very innocent and fails to pick up on certain social cues. Presumably, she has a lower-middle-class family background. Abdullah is a shy, nerdy, soft-spoken, and socially awkward/out-of-place university student who is gifted in mathematics. He comes from an affluent upbringing and has been verbally abused by his stepfather, Sarwar (Omair Rana). Both protagonists are daydreamers with different aspirations; Mahjabeen fantasizes about escaping from her studies and getting married one day, while Abdullah dreams about a relationship with his crush and classmate, Shanzey (Yashma Gill). Mahjabeen and Abdullah know each other through her father, Munshi Jee, who works for Abdullah’s family and their business. Mahjabeen teases Abdullah on occasion and they are acquaintances at the beginning of the series. Early in the series, Sarwar becomes smitten with Mahjabeen and plots to pursue her romantically. After both protagonists get rejected by their interests (with Mahjabeen’s fiancé eloping with her best friend on her wedding day and Abdullah’s crush rejecting his proposal), Abdullah marries Mahjabeen on the spot. He does this out of pity. This angers Sarwar, and he secretly plots to ruin the gullible Abdullah’s relationship with the ever-so innocent Mahjabeen. The plot twists and Sarwar tries to marry Mahjabeen by false means. Mahjabeen tells about Sarwar to Abdullah who is now confused. [1][2]He sends her back home on the account of his father's insult.Munshi Jee gets arrested on the order of Sarwar, and has a heart attack and dies after asking Washma Abdullah's younger sister, to take care of Mahjabeen as she is very innocent. Washma is a confident girl unlike her brother Abdullah as she grew up with her aunt Lala Rukh instead of lurking with Sarwar. Abdullah proceeds to marry Shanzay after she attempts suicide. Sarwar threatens Mahjabeen and her mother but she cuts the call on his end. Washma takes Mahjabeen to the hospital where she is revealed to be pregnant. Washma explains to her mom Munshi ji was innocent and was tied in a plan plotted by Sarwar. Abdullah and Washma's mom then tells her son to take over their company. Now their mom leaves Sarwar. Abdullah realizes Mehjabeen is his true love and breaks up with Shanzey. The serial ends with Abdullah bringing Mehjabeen home, Sarwar ending up in the jail and the last scene is of Mehjabeen and Abdullah quarreling.

A direct sequel, On the First Beat (學警出更) was produced and broadcast in 2007 continued with Ron Ng and Sammul Chan, alongside Joey Yung, Sonija Kwok and Michael Tao. Another sequel, E.U. (學警狙擊) was produced and released in 2009 continued with Ron Ng and Sammul Chan, alongside Michael Miu, Kathy Chow, Elanne Kong, and Michael Tse. Michael Miu reprises a new role as a triad boss in E.U., which is unrelated to his role in The Academy.

Sporting black glasses and loose, dishevelled hair, the brusque, unfashionable divorced housekeeper Konno Nobuko (Yonekura Ryoko) is sent to the Inamura residence in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Tokyo. The Inamuras are a family of six. The husband Tatsuya (Danta Yasunori), the head of a university hospital’s department of internal medicine, lives with his wife Haruko (Yo Kimiko), their three growing sons and Tatsuya’s mother Shigeko (Nogiwa Yoko). Haruko is just like a graceful doctor’s wife. However, Nobuko immediately perceives that she is only concerned about appearances and quickly feels disgusted by her employer’s sympathetic, pretentious, upper crust attitude. In contrast, Haruko is relieved that the housekeeper is an unattractive woman. She does not want a beautiful woman to get close to her husband and adolescent sons. Is this the thought of a wife and mother or is it a jealousy of young beautiful women that has sprouted within Haruko at some point? However, the real Nobuko is a beauty who catches the eyes of people. She is, for some reason, extremely uncomfortable with her looks and has deliberately disguised herself to hide it. Nobuko quickly comes to know the problems that plague not just Haruko but the entire household. Tatsuya is indifferent about domestic issues and reeks of infidelity. The children are wilful and rude. Shigeko is treated like dirt by the family. Learning that the Inamuras are putting on a pretense of being a happy family, Nobuko starts to feel vengeful towards Haruko who sneers at her drab appearance and occupation, and the children who openly scorn her. Although Haruko initially welcomed Nobuko, she is gradually spooked by her words and behaviour and suddenly announces that she is dismissing her for being a kleptomaniac. This enrages Nobuko. She exploits the weaknesses of the family that she has already grasped and decides to remain. Her objective for being in such uncomfortable surroundings is … …?
