A story of how the 'rabbit' brings home a 'big bad wolf' follows a young woman named Gu An Xin who chances upon the hotshot executive Ling Yue after he encountered an accident. Gu An Xin picked up a man. At first, she thought he was stupid, but after a few days of interaction, he proves himself to be a genius. As it turns out, Ling Yue got into an accident after being caught in the ugly fight for succession of a powerful conglomerate.

"Reply 1997" will focus on the extreme fan culture that emerged in the 1990s when idol groups took center stage and K-pop was blossoming. Moving back and forth between the ’90s and today, the story centers on the life of Seong Si Won (Jung Eun Ji), who idolizes boyband H.O.T, and her 5 high school friends.

Hayako Tatsuki (Nao Matsushita) is a single 34-years-old woman. She works as an elementary school teacher and she is generous to kids. Hayako likes to eat and drink. Her hobby is working out. She thinks she wants to marry someday, but she doesn't do anything to meet a man for marriage. Hayako thinks about her parents as a couple who have trusted each other for such a long time. She begins to think seriously about marriage and struggles to marry.

Woo Tae Seok is a lonely veteran detective. He focuses solely on solving cases. He teeters on a line between good and evil. Tae Seok crosses paths with a female psychopath Eun Sun Jae, but he is unable to arrest her due to a lack of evidence. The woman eventually helps him solve other cases.

Sanpuu Minami is a popular shojo manga artist who is believed by many to be a woman. In actuality, though, his real identity is Eichizen Gotaro, a single father with two children. One day, he receives a notification from the court that he has been appointed as a prosecutor's office examiner. With the deadline for his manga approaching, he requests a withdrawal but this is declined due to a lack of special circumstances.

He joins 11 other people randomly selected from ordinary Japanese citizens, who each have unique personalities and give off the impression that they would like to get this over and done with. At first, Gotaro has a negative attitude towards the Prosecution Review Board, but as he gets closer to the thoughts of those behind the case, he starts to appreciate how important this job is.
