One mistake by the God of Fortune changes the fates of Mui Choi Gon and Wong Bak Man. Wong Bak Man becomes rich and prosperous, while Mui Choi Gon's wife and daughter leaves him and he now runs a street noodle shop alone. One day, Mui Choi Gon meets Wong Bak Man's son, Wong Chiu Choi, and the two of them feel an inexplicable bond. But because of his father's objection, Wong Chiu Choi, along with his bodyguard can only help out Mui Choi Gon in secret. Although he has lost his magic powers, he still brings good luck to the people around him. Unfortunately, his step-mother, Tsui Sim, is the incarnation of the evil spirit and prevents Wong Chiu Choi from getting close to Mui Choi Gon. Tsui Sim arranges for Ng Hiu Ting to pretend to be Mui Choi Gon's long-lost daughter in order to make him lose everything. By heaven's kindness, Wong Chiu Choi is hit with lightning and enlightened just in time to fix the mistake before it's too late. He helps Mui Choi Gon become rich, but Mui Choi Gon keeps generously helping other people and cannot accumulate wealth. Wong Chiu Choi decides to catch everyone in one cast and reforms Congratulations Lane, where Mui Choi Gon lives, to make everyone rich...

Takei Chiyo was born to a poor family in Osaka Prefecture’s Minamikawachi district at the of the Meiji era. Her mother passed away when she was still a child, and she lived with her father Teruo and younger brother. Although Chiyo could not be put through elementary school, she has the gift of the gab and quick wit. At the age of 9, she starts working as a servant in Dotonbori and comes across the theatre world which immediately captivates her. Chiyo’s desire to become an actress grows stronger by the day. She eventually runs away and heads to Kyoto where she throws herself into acting.

April 4, 1959 in the early morning Detective Fujisawa Rokuro of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was walking his dog along the banks of Tokyo's Musashino district, and found the body of a young woman. Her handbag, an express delivery envelope, and other possession were stil with her, her identity was immediately confirmed as airline stewardess Ikuta Setsuko. Initials her death was considered a suicide due to the visual evidence of a lack of struggle, and the peaceful expression on her face. Upon further examination the cause of her death was determined as suffocation. semen was also found at the scene leading detectives to believe the crime occurred shortly before the body was found.

Fujisawa unable to forget the peaceful expression on Setsuko's face makes a direct appeal to the head of criminal investigations. He is order to work in combination with young detective Ichimura Yoshitaka. Fujisawa is the ace of the MPD, but he tends to go off on his own and that sometimes gets him into trouble. Manager Takaku Ryo takes it upon himself to monitor Fujisawa and Ichimura's behavior.

Eventually it is discovered that a blue Renault with a foreign license plate was seen one the night of the incident near the crime scene. The owner of the blue Renault, a young preist,mis found the be the sender of the express envelope found with the body. The young priest is the prime suspect, but this situation could become an international problem if handled incorrectly. One day while Fujisawa is on a stake out at the Church of Villiers were the young priest preaches a mysterious woman comes and speaks to the Chief Priest. The atmosphere around her seems to repel people.
