Set in Nagano prefecture, the drama covers the life of Yoko Sudo through World War II. Yoko Sudo with her smile is able to bring brightness to those other around her & she follows her mother's motif to laugh through hard times. During the onset of WW II, Yoko Sudo is a high school student and "Ohisama" follows her as she eventually becomes a teacher and then gets married and has a child. When World War II breaks out, Yoko's husband and brothers are drafted into the military. Yoko Sudo then opens a soba restaurant with her student.

Tsukiyama Kayo is an editor of a fashion magazine. Contrary to the glamorous image of the fashion industry, Kayo always ends up doing work dumped on her by her younger colleagues. She is shocked to learn that Hanazono Yuriko is actually consists of four brothers, Wataru, Osamu, Satoshi, and Hinata. They warn Kayo to never let this secret become known. Kayo is still in shock, but right now, her priority is to get the manuscript due tomorrow morning. She begs the brothers to rush, but they say “not tonight” and leave the apartment.

On the other hand, Qiao Yibai is forced to be the instructor. Given that Yuhuan has a memory of a goldfish, she fails to recognize that Qiao Yibai was the boy she bullied seven years ago. Little does she know that in Qiao Yibai's eyes, she is a heartbreaker who has forgotten their past.
