Morio Kiyomi was the subject of envy, when she married Dr. Yanagisawa Shigero, the owner of Yanagisawa Clinic. Although the marriage brought her status and wealth, Kiyomi was not blessed with children. The couple then decided to go through the In Vitro Fertilisation program, and soon Kiyomi successfully gave birth to a little baby. Unfortunately, the baby was born with an illness that can only be cured through stem cell transfer, and so the Yanagisawas decided to have another baby in order to save their existing child. However, Kiyomi's body is too weak to have another child, and so she approaches her estranged younger sister, Manami, to be the surrogate mother. Unbeknownst to Kiyomi, Manami is actually very bitter about her good fortune in landing a rich man, and is plotting vengeance on her.Kiyomi is creating another life just so she can save her child, without any consideration on the ethics of the decision. Is it maternal love? Or just plain egotism? 

The story takes place at the beginning of the 19th century. Goo Hae Ryung is an intern to become a palace historian. However, it was not acceptable for women to write historical records at that time. She takes one step at a time to create her own destiny in Joseon, where the Confucius ideas are deeply rooted.

She wants to fulfill her duties as a historian and prove to the world that everyone is equal. Along with the fight of the female palace historians, the drama will tell her romance with Prince Lee Rim who has a secret of his own.

Natsuki Morishita (Shokichi) suddenly lost his parents when he was young. After that, he lived at his relative’s home, but he wasn't happy living there and he ran away. Natsuki then lived on the streets of the big city. Through a lot of struggles, Natsuki is finally able to open a small store. His childhood friend Wataru Okajima (Naoto) then appears in front of him. Natsuki Morishita and Wataru Okajima get swept up by friendship, betrayal and desires.

It tells the story of Lin Jiu Ge, the daughter of Shanggu's Police Commissioner who was framed and unjustly imprisoned. She will have the help of young police detective Long Tian Yu to hopefully find the real murderer. However, the greater story also follows her friendship with Leng Nian Zi and how they turn the dream of building an all-girl school to improve the fate of the women in their little town into reality. Unfortunately, the accomplishment does not come without it's problem as people against the the idea of an all-girls school will destroy it at all costs.
