Mayumi Sato (Miki Nakatani) has been married for 13 years to Hideaki (Hiroshi Tamaki). They have one daughter who attends a private middle school. She has a hard time managing the family's budget due to her daughter's tuition fee and other expenses. She then makes the decision to work again for the first time in many years. Hideaki doesn't take the family's tight budget as seriously and he is uncooperative about doing housework. Mayumi is not happy with Hideaki’s attitude. Around this time, Taro Nasuda (Yusuke Santamaria) and his wife Ayako (Tae Kimura) visits a model house by a housing company where Hideaki works. Hideaki becomes attracted to Ayako.

A certain summer day, as the cicadas sing loudly. A man with no money and no place to belong tries to end his life, however is unable to take the last step. While wavering between life and death, he sees a gourmet food program on television, and realising he's never once eaten crab in his life decides that "For my last day on this Earth, I'll eat crab". Settings his sights on the wife who lives in a high-class neighbourhood that he happened across in a library, he forces his way into her home. And thus, he demands money from her, however things go in an unexpected direction.

White-collar worker Xu Qing You spends all year round working so much that it's always evening by the time she packs up to go home. While running for her life, she trips and is caught by Chai Klang. His nick name "Chai Klang" means middle man/guy in Thai referring to the fact that he is the middle brother. Although Chai Klang is a stern person who doesn't show many emotions, he immediately empathizes for Pojaman and fights to get her the respect worthy of a relative. He makes himself her guardian and seeks to teach her qualities of perseverance and patience. Though it's not in the will, he also knows that Ban Sai Thong belongs to Pojaman's family after his grandfather dies.

Because of the care and attention Chai Klang gives to Pojaman, his mom and Ying Lek grow to hate her even more. Naturally, their guardian/child and brother/sister relationship grows into love. They get married, but Pojaman is not certain that Chai Klang married her for love because he never told her he loves her. So how will Pojaman and Chai Klang overcome their obstacle of having his mom and sister accept her as his wife and did Chai Klang marry her because of love or was it because of Ban Sai Thong?
