Gong Tau takes the audience back to an earlier time, when Hong Kong movies were gory, twisted, and enormously entertaining guilty pleasures. Mark Cheng (Election 2) stars in this Category III shocker as Rockman, a chiseled cop whose latest case may be the death of him. When a series of brutal cop killings occur, all signs point to Lam Chiu (Kenny Wong), a nasty perp who once took a bullet to the head from Rockman, and can no longer feel any pain. However, the deaths all carry signs of dark eastern mysticism, and when Rockman's wife (Maggie Siu) becomes afflicted with unexplainable pain AND his infant son suddenly - and shockingly - dies in his home, Rockman knows something is up. His veteran partner Fat (Lam Suet) has the answer: "It's Gong Tau." Bearing the same Chinese-language title as the 1975 Shaw Brothers shocker Black Magic, Gong Tau is a return of one of Hong Kong's more unique movie genres. Director Herman Yau, auteur of the Category III classics The Untold Story and Ebola Syndrome, has plenty of fun with this shocking, sometimes darkly funny exercise in cinema excess. Over-the-top gore effects and images abound in Gong Tau. This film has it all: sex, revenge, brutal violence, twisted black magic, copious bodily fluids, and even a severed flying head complete with attached spinal cord! Not for the squeamish or faint of heart, Gong Tau is the perfect antidote to Hong Kong Cinema's recent run of popstar vehicles, and a good bet for anyone looking for a little midnight movie madness.

Underground rapper Hak Soo has challenged TV audition program for 6 years but never gets into the finalist. On the day that he fails his 7th audition, he receives a call from his hometown that his father is in the hospital. He rushes his hometown Byun San, where he has left since high school only to find it is his father's plot to bring him to Byun San. He immediately heads back to Seoul, but he is suspected as a phishing scam criminal there, and somehow bound in Byun San, the small, boring suburb.

A novelist (Kim Jung-Suk) has spent years searching for his missing wife. He wrote a novel about his experience. A woman (Soy), who read his novel, finds the novelist in an isolated area. She tells him she can help find her wife. The woman is also searching for someone. Rumors grow about the fate of the missing people.

Jung-Rae (Kim Seung-Woo) is a director/writer that needs to get away from the city environment to concentrate on his script. He asks his friend and coworker to drive him down to the coastal city of Shinduri. Unfortunately, his friend, Chang-Wook (Kim Tae-Woo), already has plans for the evening…which includes a special date with a girl. The director, Jung-Rae, insists anyways and finally Chang-Wook agrees…if he can bring his girlfriend, Moon-Sook (Ko Hyun-Jung). Jung-Rae says that is fine and they agree to go all together. Later that day when the director is picked up by Chang-Wook, he is introduced to his girlfriend, who happens to be a big fan of his work. Once they arrive in Shinduri the director and Moon-Sook become better acquainted and quickly become more attracted to each other. Moon-Sook tries to clarify to the director that she is only friends with Chang-Wook, while the director clarifies the situation even more by asking her "Who would you prefer to be with?" When Moon-Sook answers that it would be the director, they soon find themselves sneaking out together at night and end up sleeping together at another hotel. The next day the director seems more uptight and makes it known that he is going back to Seoul because the beach town is too empty. He tells Moon-Sook that he needs some time to clear things out in his mind. The director soon returns back to Shinduri and calls Moon-Sook repeatedly on her cellphone. Even though she doesn’t answer the phone, Jung-Rae leaves a message asking her to come back to Shinduri to see him. Soon after the phone call, the director comes across another lady near the beach that he believes resembles Moon-Sook. While they become more involved, Moon-Sook has now returned to Shinduri.
