A love story torn by swords...

Set in Kyoto in the last days of the Edo Period, the bloody conflict continues between local feudal domains, who aim to overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate, and the Shogun's police and city patrol. Tajuro Kiyokawa, once the master of the sword but now a depraved samurai who left his domain putting aside his past ambition, barely make ends meet. Toyo, a woman who runs a tavern next door, feels affection for Tajuro who guards her place against nasty customers, but he never realizes Toyo's feeling...

One day, Kazuma, a half-sibling of Tajuro, came to Kyoto to count on his brother. Kazuma has always looked him up and believed that Tajuro left the domain to pursue his ambition to conquer the shogunate. The city patrol finally finds Tajuro, the one marked as a subversive, and attacks him. What fate awaits for Tajuro, Toyo, and Kazuma after a battle staking their lives...?

Koji is a college student and aspiring photographer. One day, while Koji is taking pictures of families in a Tokyo park, a man suddenly appears within his camera's view and interrupts his shot. However, he's later contacted by the man with an odd request. Without revealing the purpose of the job, he asks Koji to take photographs of a woman who walks through the park with her young daughter. Koji agrees, but the strange task leads to changes in the relationships he has with the women in his life.

Those women include a longtime friend that Koji can talk to about anything and his step-sister, who offers both kindness and firm encouragement when he needs it. As Koji photographs the new third woman in his life, he feels as if she reminds him of someone from a distant memory.

Her life changes in a big way when she’s suddenly befriended one day by a pretty, sophisticated girl who also happens to be named Tomie. Fascinated by her new friend, she invites her home. When her father gets a look at his daughter’s guest, he has to do a double take–she’s the absolute spitting image of his first love, who was murdered 20 some odd years ago by his best friend (who also fell for her, then took his own life). She had made such an impression on him, in fact, that he’d named his daughter after her. He learns soon enough that his daughter’s friend is indeed the same Tomie he’d loved, miraculously alive and as young and beautiful as ever. However, Dou Gaa Kei and Ding Yat Yuen have already developed feelings for each other after overcoming many challenges together. Just as the pharmacy is reopened and everything seems to have settled down, Ding Yat Yuen's life begins counting down...
